I'm suggesting something I've never done so you can come back here and tell me how it is. The Beaman Park in NW Davidson, maybe you could drive out for a hike or something. I'm a former classmate of Lee Beaman (actually one grade ahead) from MBA days. I'm determined myself to go out there.

I'm meeting up with my sister and brother for a giant yearly Christmas party in Forest Hills. (@ sis best friend: sister-in-law to Louise Mandrell) Sis in Birmingham, Bro in Hixson (Chattanooga). Ok so now have a goal in mind thx for starting thread. Would prefer to go when trees not bare, but you know there was a Fleetwood Mac album Bare Trees and some of the songs were written and sung by Bob Welch who lived his last decades in Nashville. I'll have a picture of him and the album cover in my mind going out there. Here he is on his song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eFPbr04RNc

With children you could consider the Adventure Science Center for a cool/rainy day.

Nashville zoo can be done in a few hours. The 3 elephants have now been retired and moved to the elephant sanctuary. If temps are not in the 60's you could skip this.

Off the beaten path could be Warner Park not far from Cheekwood or the Belle Meade Mansion. With Christmas approaching you could stop at Phillip's Toy Store.
