My husband and I are visiting the area the first weekend in March to check out neighborhoods and I was hoping for some opinions...
We definitely want the Williamson County schools (or Franklin) b/c they are suppossedly best. Our max price is $320k, but a little less would be best. We have 2 young children. My husband will be working in the Franklin/Cool Springs area most of the time, however, in the beginning he will likely be heading into Nashville. I know that Thompson's Station is a little further south, but I hear you can afford more house for the money there vs. Franklin. What's traffic like between the 2 places? Is there anything to do in Thompson's Station? Anyone have any pros and cons to point out? Any help would be great!
Thanks!

You will definitely get more house for your money in Thompson's Station than Franklin. There is also a much larger inventory of homes on the market in your price range in Thompson's Station than in Franklin.
Thompson's Station is only about eight miles from the Franklin/Cool Springs area. Traffic can be heavy during rush hour but you would not be so far away that it would be unmanageable. Thompson's Station has your typical small town retail stores and restaurants. At the same time, Cool Springs has most any kind of shopping you need.
From a convenience perspective Franklin would be ideal for you with your husband working in Cool Springs. The biggest negative for Franklin are the home prices.
Hope this helps.

Spring Hill might appeal to you as well, more affordable than Franklin and about the same distance to Cool Springs as Thompson Station. And don't rule Franklin out. There are plenty of nice homes available in your price range.

Yes, Franklin would definitely be the most ideal location...I'd certainly factor in the trade-offs. Even though you might get less house for your money in Franklin, you'll spend MORE on gas to get more house in Thompsons Station. Plus, you'll spend more time in the car commuting from TS than Franklin. AND, you'll likely come to Franklin whenever you have a lot of shopping to do, as Thompsons Station is still growing their retail...although, they now have Super Target (in Spring Hill), Home Depot, Lowes, Starbucks, Publix and Kroger...among others.

Another option you might consider is Nolensville...it's east of Franklin, still in Williamson County, and you can still get a bit more for your money there than in Franklin.

Just another consideration to throw into the confusion!
