Nice people, some pretty countryside, still somewhat rural, relatively convenient to downtown, and . . . one of the worst high schools in Metro (not so much because of the kids from Joelton, but because of some of the kids who are bused in from the more urban area of Nashville). I don't know anything about the middle school there.

Is there any such thing as a good public school in davidson county? I've read nothing but negative things here and everywhere else about the schools. There has to be a positive somewhere? Maybe?

It's mostly the high schools where the biggest problems are; and there are a few that are acceptable to good. While they have some problems, Hillwood and Hillsboro are probably okay; and I still think Hume-Fogg is a pretty good high school. But there are four or five high schools here that I wouldn't send a child to (if I had children); Whites Creek in the Joelton area being one of them. Again, the middle school there might be just fine; I just don't know.

If you were thinking about Joelton, you might consider moving a few miles further down the road and be in either Robertson or Cheatham County. You might also consider the Kingston Springs or Pegram area in southern Cheatham County. The middle school out were I live in Bellevue is okay; and the older kids there go to Hillwood.

I agree, Whites Creek HS is Hell on earth. I use to volunteer there and it was a mess. I would NEVER send my children to such a hellhole.

The middle school is run down and in need of serious reconstruction. It is safer than the High School but only because they bus kids from bad neighborhoods into the schools and these kids are gang members and over all rough. Some kids are good, but most are not.

I agree: CHeatham Co or better yet Robertson Co.

Thank you. We have found a house we want to take a look at in Pleasnant View. It's just our style, sitting on a acres and in our ideal price range. Is in Cheatham county and the schools would be Sycamore Middle and Sycamore High School. From what I can find seems to be your middle of road some people love it some people hate it schools. Going to drive out tonight and check out the area in the morning.

I hope it works out for you.

Say hello to my two "adopted" grandkids while you're there. ;-)

I think that's quite the understatement.
