Default Adhd...??

Anyone on here have a child with this disorder? I am visiting next week and looking into Hendersonville and Mt. Juliet. I guess I am asking, how well do the schools in these areas deal with children with adhd? Or even if a public school teacher is on here that has helpful info. Any personal good or bad experiences? This may be personal for some so if you have any info you don't want to post please DM me. Thanks for any help/info anyone can give. My daughter was recently diagnosed so I am new to this and trying to learn as much as I can. I am just very much worried about her having to deal with it in school. The school here is VERY small and doesn't have many resources but her teacher this year has been awesome. Thank you again for any help or guidance!

Hi, I have a son who was just recently diagnosed with ADHD and believe me it has been a long road to get to this point. We fought the idea for the past several years out of fear of jumping the gun and not examining all other possibilities for the issues we have been dealing with. The resources I have found through the school and education system have unfortunately come from much of our own research. I was shocked and appalled that the educators in our school system are greatly uninformed of the true resources available. My advice to you is to talk to as many people who have kids in your situation and have dealt with the same system you are in. The best answers suprisingly come from other parents. Good Luck!

My grandaughter who lives in Mt. Juliet has ADHD and has been enrolled for the past 3 years at the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, they were very patient with her, and she did very well in the school. My daughter just this year put her in the Mt. Juliet Elementary Public School. My grand daughter is doing well in that school also, but she is so far ahead of the new 4th grade class that she is getting bored with the repeat things that she is having to do. My daughter is considering putting her back into MJCA next year. Because as you know a bored child with ADHD can become a handfull. Also she is at a far more advanced level of learning than the public school system. If you would like to e-mail me my address is TDPeek@AOL.com.

Thanks dlong2600. I am the only person I know so far who has a child with this but I am sure I'll meet someone who can help. I have visited her new school and feel that she will be just fine. They have a few kids with adhd and and know how to work with them and are willing to do things a little different for her like she needs. Thanks!

I live in Hendersonville, and happen to be a teacher. I can tell you that from my experience, it depends ALOT on the individual teacher. I taught in a regular elementary classroom for several years and currently teach special education. Every teacher has a different style, tolerance level, experiences, etc. Talk to the administration, tell them your concerns and ask not to have your child placed in a class because of the number in each classroom, but because of your child's needs and PRAY.
