Default Visiting in April

My family is going to Tennessee in April to visit with some friends for the weekend. We have never been to Nashville and are curious as to what there is to do relatively sticking to Nashville? We are a young married couple with a 2 year old. Thanks!

Well, it sort of depends on what you like. There's the typical music related stuff, restaurants, maybe some art events, parks, lakes, some historic sites, a large outlet mall, etc. By early to mid April it will be spring here, so there will be lawn & garden stuff . . . maybe a large crafts fair in the park. If you child was older, then I would suggest the Adventure Science Center, but a 2-year old is not quite old enough to enjoy it.

Huh? When have you seen a foot of snow in Nashville? We haven't had a total of a foot of snow for the past three years combined, maybe the past five years. So far this year I think we've had a total of about one inch.

When? A foot? I haven't even seen an inch this year. Mostly snow dust. I don;t think Nashville has ever had a foot of snow.

I've mentioned in another thread that Nashville got 1 foot of snow on New Years eve in '63 I believe. My family was at Municipal auditorium and we were lucky to get home. In 1960 Nashville had a total accumulation of 60 inches, a year I will never forget as we got a significant snow once a week it seemed.

I've seen a foot of snow in Nashville. I remember it taking me 8 hours to get home from work....but that was 20 or so years ago. I remember an ice storm in 1993 or was is 1994? Had no electricity for 3 days. But a foot of snow, lately??? No....and that is JUST fine with me.

Hurry up Spring!

I have a 3.5 yr old and a 1.5 yr old. My children like the zoo, the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro, I thought the Adventure Science Center was a little bit too old for them, the stingray reef at Opryland Mall (there's also the Aquarium restaurant at the mall that's supposed to be popular with kids but I didn't take mine there), they like the playground area near the Parthenon and they like the free shows that the Nashville Public Library puts on.
