Beechwood Terrace? Please avoid that complex!!!!! I had 2 friends who lived there and hated. They both left because they did not feel safe. I have some insight into the goings on of the office staff as well and they appear to be less than professional. ![]() |

Wow!!!
Thanks Pimpy and Steve_TN. I passed the information on. She said she signed a 6 month lease. It seems like Antioch is popular for newcomers and movers. What's with the police dept? Are they unable to crackdown on crime? Or understaffed or part of the problem? Do you see a cleanup in the near future? |

I grew up in Antioch, on Richards Road as a matter of fact. When i was young, the place in Antioch to be was in the Hickory Hollow area. Now, that area has run down as well.
I dont fear for my life in Antioch. My apartment was broken in to once when I lived in a complex on Bell Rd, apparently part of a ring of break ins according to the police. I would definitely look at the Cane Ridge portion of Antioch if you are set on moving to that area. If not, I would consider Rutherford County instead. Something like Smyrna or Murfreesboro. We have children now and i was not happy with Davidson County schools, so we moved to Murfreesboro. The person from California, if you are moving here with that California salary then go to Williamson County. Its higher priced but would still be affordable compared to Cali. If not, go to Rutherford County. No, Antioch is not South Central LA, but it isnt Bell Aire either. If you want something in between with an easy commute, go to Rutherford or Williamson County |

My fiance and I just moved here back in September from Mass because his job relocated to Antioch (seems like its the new spot for businesses). We live in Murfreesboro, while the area isn't crime infested it seems to be pretty congested, at least where we are. My finance commutes to work from here to Antioch and its not horrible but it is about 20 minutes or so. Just hope there isn't any accidents on I24. Seems as though when that happens getting to work on time is near impossible. I would agree with most of the people on here and say the best bet is moving to Smyrna or La Vergne. I have met people from both and none of them have ever complained about living there. Also, my fiance talked to a co-worker that lives in Hermitage and says thats not a bad place either. Also, his boss lives in Franklin and has said its a nice area but takes him an hour to get to work. (not sure the route he takes) And he is considering on moving to the Brentwood area (which I was told by a friend I met down here that its nice but pricey area) But like just about every town/city there are good and bad spots. Just have to look into where you like and be cautious.

Are you saying his boss takes an hour to get from Franklin to Antioch? He must live way out past Westhaven? Leipers Fork, maybe? In the thick of rush hour I guess that might take an hour. I live in Franklin and get to Music Row in 20-25 minutes, but not at the very worst of rush hour. Still, an hour......wow.

Yeah, thats what he told my fiance when we were first thinking about coming here, told us to look elsewhere. If I remember right he doesn't take the interstate, I don't know if that would make an hour more believable. Unless he was just saying it, I don't know.

There are tons of non-interstate routes from Franklin to Antioch, none of which should take an hour, even at the peak of rush hour. Also, Antioch is definitely NOT the "new spot" for businesses, with the exception of cash advance and discount beer/tobacco stores. Lots of businesses in the Hickory Hollow area have actually shut down in the last couple years, and the mall is hanging on by a thread.

I've heard that everyone who lives in Antioch is murdered every single day. Then new people move in, and they're all murdered too. That's how bad it is.

I'm pretty sure he was being facetious and is probably one of those who thinks that people on this board are too hard on Antioch. However, newcomers who are unfamiliar with Middle Tennessee deserve to know the truth, and the truth is that Antioch is one of the most crime-ridden areas of Nashville and it should be avoided if safety is a major concern.
