I rented a townhome in Timberlake Village for several years as a young single female and I had no problems. I did know of a few car break ins where some bad kids stole cd players but tell me of a large metro area that doesn't happen? The property I rented from was lovely, it was located on an old farm with 2 natural ponds and was VERY pet friendly. I would recommend their townhomes to any of my friends or family.

Default Rutherford County is better bet

Antioch is run down, so are LaVergne and Smyrna- unless your name is Habib, Muhammed or Rodriguez- stay way from those areas. While they are nowhere near as bad as Los Angeles or Memphis, they are headed that way.Anyhting along Murfreesboro Road, stay away from; that is one continous ghetto from Nashville on out to about LaVergne. If you don't mind driving, consider Christiana, or even Woodbury, two towns futher south in Rutherford County.

May I recommend an unbiased way to determine whether or not Antioch is for you? See for yourself and then decide where you feel comfortable living: Nashville Crime Maps

Crime is everywhere, no matter where you reside. I think you have to judge the area for yourself, just as we are going to do in March.
Hey Gettingaway..My husband and I are moving to the Nashville area in 4 months...Not sure were you are from, but we live in Los Angeles..Sherman Oaks is the city. Let's put it this way, Sherman Oaks is a very high brow place and is becoming a toilet just like the rest of Los Angeles. Car break in's, house invasions, murders you name it. I always felt safe here, but not so much anymore. I've heard some BAD stuff about Antioch..Yes, crime happens everywhere...they love to go to nice areas too..more loot that way! But why anyone would defend a crime ridden area (not saying you are) but I sure wouldn't go out of my way to move somewhere or buy a home because the prices is 100K If it quacks like a duck it's a duck! I'm sure the reason their are nice homes there is because nice people who behave, ran for their lives. I think people are getting suckered into moving there because homes are much cheaper...Ya Think! Los Angeles I'm sure is worse, but at least in the Nashville areas you can run and get away from the dumps and crime cities. If you live in Los Angeles, you might live in a Million dollar home..(really only worth 400K) but 2 blocks away is the ghetto, barrio or whatever you so choose to call it. Thank Goodness for this forum, because when people tell you not to go to a certain city, I'm sure it's for good reason..Thank You everyone for all of your great posts...It save us for making big buying mistakes...also for anyone who says..Well, you just have to keep an eye out and avoid certain areas of Antioch... Tell that to the poor people who get killed, beaten and robbed everyday...I Say STAY AWAY!!!! And anyone who thinks they want to come to Los Angeles, think again. If you only speak English don't move here either. NO ONE WILL UNDERSTAND YOU!

All you have to do to realize how much Antioch sucks is to think about Cane Ridge: Antioch has SUCH an unshakeable bad reputation that they actually re-zoned part of Antioch and re-named it Cane Ridge hoping people would move there once they changed the name! Enough said.

Or you could come to middle TN, strike up a conversation with a random sample of people, tell them you're moving to Antioch and see the look on 90% of their faces.

Hi-

Can you tell me what Christiana is like? My boyfriend likes the area and we live near there now. I don't think I really like Woodbury BUT I have only driven through there.

OK I don't know how true this is, but I have heard from people who are natives to TN and they say to stay away from Woodbury. They said the people there don't take kindly to people who don't live there. I was just wondering if this was true or if they over exaggerated. I have never been there, just curious.

Christiana is basically just the county, south of Murfreesboro. There isn't much there other than the fabulous Miller's Grocery, a post office, and a gas station. The area hasn't been built up like Blackman has, but it's just a matter of time. There is at least one massive subdivision planned for the area that I know of; probably more. I think in 5 years the line between Murfreesboro and Christiana won't be visible.

I really like the area a lot, but I wouldn't expect it to stay sleepy too long. It is zoned for 3 really good schools.

There are subdivisions popping up in Christiana such as Buchanan Estates, which is quite large. The line between Murfreesboro and Christiana blurrs more each day to me.

OK, this is so funny, because they try to change the names of the cities in Los Angeles all the time. Los Angeles is one big city. All the names you hear are all made up, but have been these names for at least 40 to 50 years. We only have LAPD and LAFD and you live in a made up city name. But because Los Angeles has become such a toilet now with people who like to rob, rape and murder they think they are pulling a fast one on the poor people who's property has plummeted. So if anyone is planning to move here let me give you the codes of the cities.

North Hollywood: The part that's semi Ok, is now called Valley Village.. Oh yea, and the other part is called NO HO District. They want to fool you into thinking that it's artsy. NOT! It goes on and on...Sherman Oaks, nice part but bad part is Sherman Village and there is also Lake Sherman..sorry NO lake in Sherman Oaks! and so on.. The great city of Sepulveda is now North Hills and West Hills for the dump Canoga Park. For a real Shocker! Go to LAtimes.com and hit the homicide blog... Kinda the map quest of death! White House TN looks soooo good to us everyday. Just 4 more months and we're out of here. What a shame! I'm a true Californian, born and raised here but being pushed out by people who break the law and are not even legal here. NICE! So when they start changing names of Crime ridden cities beware! I had to crack up at Antioch's new name Cane Ridge..LOL I Kinda like "Lake Antioch"!
