Yes I think Rivergate Mall is pretty safe but I like to go early to be even safer and avoid the crowds.

Goodlettsville is a great place to live! You will be very happy in this area.Low crime and you can take a drive to the Union Hill area and feel like you are miles away in the country. Also the drive down Long Hollow Pike is beautiful.

I visit there all the time so I am very familiar with it and the name of the mayor out there is John Finch plus I come out to Goodlettsville,TN all the time from where I live at in zip code 37207 in East Nashville to shop at Publix in the Caldwell Square Shopping center and I love it.

what's the reputation for the Windsor Green subdivision? there are a few duplexes/homes for rent in that neighborhood but I'm moving from out of state so I don't know if that's a good area or not? how does it compare to hendersonville? thanks!!

If you have a family, it doesn't compare at all because it is zoned for Metro Nashville schools which do not rate highly. However, the area is fairly nice. Homes were built in the late 80s/early 90s. You have convenient access to I-65 and Vietnam Vets and lots of nearby shopping.
If you are considering Goodlettsville, try to choose an area on the Sumner County side of the city. The schools will be 100x better. Unfortunately, the Sumner side is extremely expensive.
For a better range of prices, consider Hendersonville. The Glen Oaks area of Hendersonville is a lot like Windsor Green.

Goodlettsville,TN is a very safe town but like the other guy said it's zoned for Metro Nashville Public Schools so anyway it's as good as Hendersonville for the most part but a little less developed and yet so much oppurtunity for new investment.
As far as the schools go you will either want to find a private school or go to school in Sumner county.Living on the Sumner county side would probably be best but the choices are yours so good luck.

The Sumner County line is just behind Kroger off of Long Hollow Pike. Publix, for example, is in Sumner County. Moss-Wright Park is also in Sumner (I'm 99% sure).
I may be wrong, but Goodlettsville Elementary had a good reputation when I lived over there...but when you get into high school it's Hunters' Lane...which isn't nearly as good as the Sumner Co Schools.
But head out Long Hollow Pike...check in the neighborhood around Publix...not sure of your budget (missed that post maybe?) but Mansker Farms is very nice, pretty close to Goodlettsville, as is Creekside...but that's in the Gallatin side of Hendersonville off of Long Hollow Pike.
It's really a great place to live and you'll find all kinds of diverse homes there.

Goodlettsville is my favorite area and it's soon to be where I'll be working. Just about everything one needs in retail can be found, and that is likely what raises the crime statistics. I only shop in the daytime hours and never felt unsafe ever. I do keep my eyes open, too, as any wise person should.
I consider Goodlettsville a "best kept secret" of the Nashville area. Very nice residential living can be found, convenient to everything.
If seeking an apartment, it's wise to check the lifestyle morning, noon and night to see how it changes when everyone is home and everyone is at work. I've lived in apartments even in the nicest areas of Hendersonville, and all it takes is one obnoxious neighbor to turn apartment life into a living hell (usually at night).
