Default moving to Goodlettsville area

I currently live in Wisconsin and I am looking to move to the Nashville area. I do not have a job yet but I am looking in Nashville. I was told Goodlettsville and Hendersonville were good areas to live in. I've spent a lot of time looking into Goodlettsville and I've found out they have a high crime rate for having a small population. I'm just curious if there are bad parts of Goodlettsville that I should stay away from. I have a few apartments I want to check out in the next few months. If anyone could give me advice as to which apartments may be better or safer than others, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I'm not sure, but the crime statistics might be skewed because of the nearby Rivergate Mall area (very commercial). I know a couple of people who live in Goodlettsville and I've never heard them say much about trouble in the area, and I don't remember hearing many news stories where something bad happened there. I live all the way on the other side of town, so I don't have any first-hand experience of the area.

TNNative will become famous soon enoughTNNative will become famous soon enoughTNNative will become famous soon enough
I was born and raised in Goodlettsville and feel as safe now in the "old" part (Main Street) of Goodlettsville as I ever have. There are lots of nice apartments in Goodlettsville and lots of nice homes. I wouldn't hesitate going back to Goodlettsville for a minute if I didn't have school concerns there. HLHS is not the place I'd want to send my son.

The mall area is where you have to use caution. Criminals look for easy targets at all shopping areas because they know that's when you're going to have your cash or credit cards with you. My dad got carjacked a few years ago at the Home Depot in Goodlettsville. An older man by himself, buying new cabinets for his house equals $$$. Some thug jumped into his passenger side when he unlocked the doors, got him to drive him to meet another car and took his money. They thankfully did not harm him and let him go with a threat. Not until about two weeks ago did I ever feel "unsafe" while shopping there, but ordinarily it isn't that way. I just shopped there again last night.

I think you'll like Goodlettsville. But I'm probably "biased" because that is "home" to me.

I have never been afraid to go to Rivergate Mall. I think RG falls under the Madison zip code.

If you look at the crime map on the Tennessean, you won't find much in Goodlettsville.

I wouldn't hesitate to live there.

The area of Goodlettsville near Moss-Wright park is really nice. There may be some townhomes for rent there. Also, you might want to check out Piccadilly Apartments in Windsor Green off Conference Drive.

Any thoughts on Colony Manor on Dickerson Road in Goodlettsville...it is about 2 miles from the mall.

It's still in a safe area of Goodlettsville, it's near Mason's motel, probably the oldest motel in Goodlettsville, but they also have a meat and three cafe. For shortcuts, you can actually cut through Moss Trail (across from Mason's) and come out right at the mall area and not have to go back down and cut across Rivergate Pkwy. Or go south just about a mile and cut across Dry Creek Road to go south of the mall.

Hi I must mention you do not want to live in Colony Manor in Goodlettsville,TN those are section 8 apartments but truly I only go out to Goodlettsville very much to shop.

As nice as it is I just like living in Nashville the yards are easier to mow,no dangerous wild animals around, less boring, and the list goes on but I visit Goodlettsville,TN a lot even though I live in Northeast Nashville which is on its way to gentrifying.

My advice would be to choose an address in Sumner County. Goodlettsville is actually located in both Davidson and Sumner Counties but the Sumner Co side is upper-middle class neighborhoods with excellent school systems. You will also have excellent city services because of the income generated from Rivergate's sales tax.
