Hello, wonderful Nashville area folks.

Four years ago our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter moved to Hendersonville from Maine. It has been a spectacular move for them, with wonderful schools for our beloved Lucy. They love their Tennessee friends and southern life style...who can blame them. But we miss them terribly and want to be with precious granddaughter as she continues to grow, blossoming into a truly caring, special person. Retirement is close now and we have been actively seeking half-to-an-acre of land on which to build a small southern cottage-style home as close to possible to our children in Hendersonville. As you certainly must know, the market is "hot" and we have so far been unsuccessful in finding a piece of property close enough to them, and affordable enough for us to make the half-a-year move possible. We will still need to maintain our Maine home in order to stay close to our aging moms and the rest of our crazy, lovable relatives, for six months a year.

Half of me thinks we are truly crazy for thinking we can pull this off, but the other half knows we will be crazy not to spend as much time with Lucy as we can....for as you will probably agree, children grow so fast and you never get those very precious years back. Her Grampa and my plan is to volunteer in her school, walk her home each afternoon, play with her, attend all of her sports events, read with her, laugh with her, bake with her and volunteer with her at a non-profit of her choice. Her Grampa teaches her things I don't know much about and I am the silly half of the bunch. Together we share so much love and happiness that we can barely stand being so far away from her.....That is why I am posting here to possibly ask for your kind assistance.

We are reaching out to you to ask if you have any knowledge of a smallish parcel of land, in a safe neighborhood, that is in - or very close - to Hendersonville that might be for sale (at a reasonable price - we've been saving since they moved, but the market has grown as fast as we've saved, it seems). I know this is a hard thing to ask, but we have all of our fingers and toes crossed that perhaps someone reading this might know of a fitting piece of land and will kindly contact us. I check the real estate listings every single night after work - and we have missed three really perfect properties; they sell really fast in your beautiful area!

Thank you, in advance, to everyone who reads this and gives it some thought. Your understanding and your kindness is forever appreciated. You should be very proud that your southern hospitality is very well known and that people from all over the world want to live in "your neck of the woods" as we would say in Maine. God Bless You -and happiness always!

Deb and Steve

It would be best if we knew your general budget, and your house requirements (BR/BA, and possibly age of house/amenities) would be important.

You may find that a property in a more rural area outside of Hendersonville works best. Closest options would be off of Long Hollow Pike, it would seem (Shackle Island). You might also check the communities of White House, Cottontown, Portland, Cross Plains, Millersville, Ridgetop, Greenbrier, Hartsville, and Lafayette.

Is there any reason to be "in Hendersonville"? You might be able to find a nice small cottage on a lake in another part of the state or even KY. All within easy driving distance

Have you thought about maybe a condo here or selling your home in Maine and getting a condo there? Having 2 places to maintain might turn into a burden. There are lots of cottage style homes with land as you get farther away from Nashville and the towns people are commuting from.
