Default Where to stop on I-40

I am moving to North Carolina in June, my home state. I was wondering where to stop on the route along I-40 someplace between Memphis and Nashville. We could stop in Nashville but am not sure if it's a good idea or not, i.e. is it too congested traffic-wise to get in and out easily. We are leaving from Albuquerque so it's a very long drive, but we'd like to find a nice place to stay overnight and enjoy a brief walk around with breakfast someplace if possible.
Suggsetions are most welcome.
Thanks.

Hi, congratulations on your move! You will be fine stopping in Nashville. There are many places right off of I-40 made just for travelers like yourself. There are hotels/motels and breakfast restaurants around. I have stayed overnight near the Nashville airport exits for early flights and have always had good experiences. I am going to move this thread to the Nashville forum so that the fine people there can help you further. Good Luck!!

Well, the best thing to do is get gas around Little Rock, AR and pass right on thru Memphis without stopping (unless you have a gun with you then it's ok)...then stop in Nashville. You can stay somewhere around West End (Vanderbilt area) then go over to Hillsboro Village and eat breakfast at the Pancake Pantry.
