Default Need some advice--might be moving

I may be relocating to Nashville within the year. I currently teach in a private school & was wondering about this particular job market in Nashville (as I mentioned, private--not public--schools). I have heard many good things about this famous city, but I need some real opinions on raising a family there on a private-school salary. Any thoughts?

I would start with some web-surfing about the private schools in Brentwood, starting with Old Hickory Road and Hillsboro Pike areas near Forest Hills. Also, south of Brentwood as you approach Franklin, such as in the Berrys Chapel area. Those are very nice, gracious communities and the salaries would, I'm guessing, be higher since those are nicer areas. I don't know if you want to be as south as Franklin or not. I know you're not asking about which schools are there, but unfortunately, I don't have any other info to tell you, and I don't know about salaries. (I'm trying to find out about salaries myself for an EA in Nashville.) It's been over a decade since I lived there, and I cannot believe that no one from Nashville has responded to this thread yet.

When I worked in B., there were many fine Christian and parochial private schools. Actually, I was surprised how large the Catholic contingency is there in that southern city. (New Orleans also has oodles of Catholic schools and, I'm beginning to now wonder if the "Bible-Belt" has, in general, larger-than-realized Catholic communities.) Sorry I don't have more info. as far as salaries.

Hopefully a NASHVILLE person who's in education will see this & reply!

Default I Love It Here

In response to your post. I just moved to Brentwood from Florida and I love it. I must say my husband and I picked the perfect place to raise our kids. We are surrounded by Malls and Restaurants and it just seems to be so family oriented. Every place seems to be 10-20 minutes away from me like the airport, Nashville city itself. The schools are good , the do have a private school in near John Overton High. i forgot the name of it-but that's in the Davidson county side of Brentwood. By the way Brentwood resides between two counties. Something I found out the wrong way. People seem to stop working around 3-4pm. Old Hickory is like a major road here, there is traffic ( a small amount) riht around 4-5 pm. It's really nice here. Always something to do. Oh well happy house hunting.

Other city to check out are Franklin, Bellevue, Spring Hill (still to country for me, but very quiet and nice.)
