This is terrible. There have been a lot of bad crimes in Nashville the past few months. Shootings, carjackings, robberies, etc. Is this the norm for Nashville. I thought this city was a one of the best places to live list. Can't even go to the library.

Yes, it is the norm. Being an "It" city has nothing to do with crime rates.

Teens running around and committing violent crimes is absolutely a terrible thing, and the city (well, all cities, really) need to be doing everything they can to reduce crime and prevent things like this from happening.

That said, Nashville has always had a high crime rate. I'm not sure why people are under the impression that it isn't. The only thing I can think of is it usually has a bit lower of a murder rate (and total murders) than a lot of similar sized cities. There are other violent crimes that aren't murder...but that seems to be the one that gets all the attention.

Your last sentence just makes me roll my eyes, though. Can't even go to the library? Please.

Just stay home, lock the doors, shutter the windows, and hide under the bed. The world is obviously too scary of a place for you.

Seems to be an uptick of armed teens committing robberies/shootings over the last couple of weeks in areas that don't usually see a lot of crime. Hope the police solve these soon.

Unfortunately this is a national issue. I don't know why Nashville would be exempt just because of rapid growth.

Metro PD tweeted they caught 3 teens last night in a carjacked vehicle in East Nashville.

Yeah I've never really understood the perception that Nashville is some wildly safe city. It's not a "dangerous" city but I wouldn't characterize it as safe from a crime rate standpoint. That said, all larger cities (for the most part) will have crap like this happen. It's unfortunate. Asking things like "is this the norm" isn't terribly fair because of how often these things happen across the country. I'd call it the norm but I wouldn't put the blame on Nashville, I'd simply put the blame on the fact that its a large enough city where these things happen with some kind of frequency. But I digress, even though that was Green Hills, it's still Nashville proper. These things will rarely happen in most suburbs. Or at least with way less frequency.

Nashville is a city of 700,000. Not everyone there is an angel. Green Hills is an affluent area, but at the same time it is a large commercial center in the city.
