Pleasant View - too far to commute to Nashville?
My family is relocating to the Nashville area. Pleasant View and Spring Hill have such inexpensive housing options compared to Franklin and Brentwood. Is it too far to be realistic to commute to Nashville for work (Trousdale Drive and 255)? Thanks! Just trying to get an idea of the area...

It would be a bit of a long commute from either place, but certainly doable. I would guess close to an hour in total from either area during rush hour traffic. That's just a rough guess; a lot depends on the exact time you're traveling, the weather condition, whether there's any accidents, the exact location you leaving and going to.
There are other options closer in that are cheaper than Franklin or Brentwood but still nice.

Visiting Nashville soon! Wow...can hardly believe we're leaving Raleigh after 15 years!
Thanks for the responses. Slowly but surely I am getting a better idea of the are and what will work for our family. We are going to visit in April and it will be nice to see various neighborhoods and towns in person! We'll also drive to and from possible areas to see how the drive is during morning and evening commuter traffic. ! I'm excited to check out the new possibilities there are in Nashville for our family.

Which other options should we consider closer in?
Alleycat,
Thanks for the reply. What areas might we check into that are closer in but still nice? Still doing my research for what will be best for us! Thanks!

I'll just throw out some areas for your research. Without knowing more about you and your family and what you're looking for, it's a little hard to make any hard recommendations.
Here's a few ideas: Nolensville; Mt. Juliet; Smyrna; possibly around the Belmont/Blakemore area (this is an older neighborhood); possibly even around the Grassmere area. You might even consider the Bellevue area (that's where I live). Maybe Kingston Spring (but that might be getting too far out again).
I assume you have children the way you phrased your original question. If you are planning on sending them to public school, we'd need to talk a little about the public school in Metro Nashville itself to see whether the areas I listed in Metro would work for you.

Blessed, I actually live near Pleasant View, and indeed am thinking of moving there. One thing about that particular area is that it's only a stone's throw off of Interstate 24. I am currently in Dickson county, just a few minutes west of Ashland City. My commute from there, at 5:00 am, is about 45 minutes, as it's a very curvy road that I use. From PV it should be only about 35 minutes to get to downtown Nashville.

The trouble is, Trousdale Drive is well south of downtown.
Good luck with your move to PV. It's getting to be quite a little area now. I grew up not far from there in east Montgomery County.

Yes indeed...I did not catch her job location. I don't like Harding during rush hour. Coming through between 4-5 pm she will also have to fight that traffic jam north of the stadium, where 65 and 24 converge, but once clear of that...it's smooth sailing to good ole' Pleasant View, where all the men are handsome, the women fair, and the children...well behaved!
