franklin and brentwood are both great places to live. brentwood is closer to nashville and does not have the awesome quaint downtown that franklin does. we live in franklin and LOVE it. edmonson elem seems to be all the rage, but any school in williamson county will be a great school. if you want to stay in williamson county, be careful because some parts of brentwood are in davidson county-nashville public schools. i was a teacher in nashville and there are great schools there too-jt moore middle, julia green elem., glendale elem, but those are located in green hills/belle meade, etc. and are much more pricey than brentwood and franklin

Default Brentwood, TN

Brentwood is one of the most beautiful communities in Williamson county. Some of the developments have community amenities and some do not. Something to keep in mind. When we moved here we came from a community in California with a pool and clubhouse. For the price range we couldn't beat the Willowmet subdivision. It is surrounded by two higher end communities, Bonbrooke and Fountainbrooke, so that really helps our property values. Willomet has a playground for the kids and a large park across the street but no pool. We found that most families frequent one or both of the YMCA's in Brentwood. They have extremely nice facilities! You have to check them out. I've found that my wife loves to socialize at the Y and the neighboring awesome parks more so than she ever did having the amenities within the community back in Cali. Like I said, you can't beat the price of homes in Willomet, and it comes with the beauty and prestige of living in Brentwood. It is 90% residential so you don't have to be concerned about strip malls next door or anything.

That's a beautiful neighborhood. If it had been closer to I-65, I think we would have bought there. Having a new driver in the house, that affected our choice. Concord Road can get challenging out that way. I agree, though, you can't beat the houses for the price.

I agree. Concord Rd can be dangerous, especially with all the horrible drivers in the area (I have found that native Tennesseans love to talk on the phone and tailgate).

Anyone know when the Concord Rd. expansion is supposed to happen? I thought it was going to start in late 2008, but I believe it's been delayed to mid 2009.

HI,
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. We just moved into our new home, just south of Franklin, Oak View Elem school district, and we love it. Still surrounded by moving boxes, but love the hosue. We really wanted a big yard and good schools, which I know you get in Brentwood, but we just couldn't find the right fit. So, hubby will have longer commute.
I concur with the Concord Rd sentiments. I didnt' like using it to get everywhere. However, now I use Hwy 31 to get everywhere, so...
Thanks again for the help and suggestions

Any concern that Willomet is close to Nolensive Rd? I believe Willomet is one of the Eastern-most subdivisions in Brentwood. As you head East on Concord, you get close to Nolensive Rd. Would having South Nashville / Nolensive nearby lower property value? Any safety concerns living near the border?

BP300, I haven't heard of any concerns regarding property value issues because of it's nearness to Nolensville Rd. It's appears to be far enough south of Old Hickory Blvd. that it is not an issue. There are also many nice upscale developments in the immediate area. To me the most troubling part of this location is the Concord Rd. congestion when trying to get to I-65.

Thanks. Always good to get a realtor's insight. I have a friend in Fountainbrooke, and she loves the neighborhood. We keep wondering, however, when the development will be completed. Seems like there are a lot of open lots in the Willomet and Fountainbrooke subdivisions.

I'll chime in too, if that's okay. I agree that I haven't seen any negative effects on Willowmet or Fountainbrooke's location like you mentioned. The one possible negative I see is that it's one of the furthest away from I65 on Concord Road. If you want to be within a mile or two of the Interstate, that would deter you some from those subdivisions...however, if that were the case, it would deter you from nearly every other neighborhood on Concord Road because so many of them are 5-6 miles down Concord all right there together.

As for Fountainbrooke, I recently sold a house there where the buyers seem to be quite pleased with their decision. Most of Fountainbrooke's new construction has slowed. There is a section (closest to the back side of Willowmet) where Fox Ridge Homes "will" build homes when they get buyers, so when it will finish will depend on the demand for those homes in those lots because the other lots in the main section of the subdivision will probably be finished before they sell all of those new construction lots up front. That is probably where you are seeing the majority of open lots. Many of the lots in the rest of the subdivision have been built on with a few exceptions, so that main section is closer to completion. Willomet is probably at a similar point with a few areas still available for a few more, but nearing completion.

that is an inaccurate generalization. I think most of the neighborhoods on the east side of I-65 are significantly closer to I-65 than Willowmet. For example, Chenoweth, Indian Point etc. And from some of the neighborhoods you don't even need to use Concord Road to get to I-65 (e.g. Raintree). I would say anything east of Edmundson is quite far from the freeway (and east of Sunset is really far). OTOH there is a nice shopping area on Nolensville Road, which is a small consolation for being far from the freeway, Cool Springs, Franklin and Green Hills.
