It looks as though there are a lot of job postings for Accountants in the Nashville area (w/in 50miles). Does anyone know if it is tuff to get a job in that field in this area? Is there a demand for this type of work in this area?

The market in Nashville is ridiculously hot. Even before I moved down here, I had 5 interviews. We arrived two weeks ago. I had one interview last week after I got settled and I should be getting an offer for that one once my references check out. I have 3 other interviews scheduled for this coming week with another one in the works. Nashville has numerous companies relocating to the area of all sizes. Growth in accounting and finance is only going to continue. |

Kimnjason, As Big TR stated, it is a good market for this field. I am not a CPA, but have been employed as a Senior Financial Analyst at one of the numerous mid-sized manufacturers in the region, and there are tons of options for all. Far better market than most major cities.

Thank you for letting me take the big sigh of releif! I am not a CPA, but have my BBA. I have applied for some, but get no reply. I am going to wait until we find a place before reappying so I can put a Tennessee address on my resume; not sure if that is what is shying people away from calling me?? Big TR, you are lucky to have a job before moving. Shed some luck my way, huh. I am north of you - Wisconsin. We will be relocating in June.

Please don't misunderstand. I don't have a job yet, just lots of pretty solid leads obtained through recruiters and by myself.
To better get interviews before you move, you're going to have to network with some recruiters. That's how I obtained the bulk of my interviews before relocation. Companies don't want to talk to you until they know you are down here or can tell the move is imminent. My guess is most people say they want to relocate but never actually do. Therefore companies tend to ignore non-local candidates. My phone has been ringing off the hook now that I am here with a Franklin address. Recruiters are a necessary evil in the accounting/finance field. You will get good ones and you will get clowns. You can PM me and I can give you a couple of good recruiter references. |
