Interested in living Downtown a couple blocks off Broadway. My situation is unique as I won't ever have to commute as I remote work from home. Currently I always take Ubers to the bars I cant walk to and basically all I use my current car for now is trips to the grocery and random errands. Which I think I can just get groceries delivered and walk/bike the errands.

- How walkable is the Downtown core?

- Do people ride bikes? Is Downtown pretty bicycle friendly?

- Obviously the weather isn't great all year long but how many months out the year would you consider Downtown walkable?

You could walk all year. We do get cold in the Winter, but not cold like Chicago or NY.

There is a lot of bike riders, your biggest problem will be dodging the crazy drivers.

I am trying to do the same thing. With the Whole Foods, and Publix grocery stores going up on Broadway, and the North Gulch, you will be 1/4 mile from a grocery store. H&M will be in the 5th and Broadway development. Plenty of healthcare not far away. You could make it without a car.

My wife and I live on South 5th in East Nashville. We never use a car on the weekends. We walk. If I could find a job in downtown, I would sell my car and walk to work. Over the next 5 years things will be vastly different.

If you don't mind being super sweaty when you arrive at your destination from May - late September....

All in all, yes you could make it work. Uber is fairly cheap in Nashville unless it's surge pricing obviously. It's not a huge deal. The tourists and bachelor/bachelorette parties, concerts, pedestrian traffic might be annoying depending on where you are exactly but without any real commute on a daily basis you can do it. I know a few people who live/lived downtown and had a car only for freedom and out of town trip purposes. It wasn't a necessity.

It's not built yet. They've pulled permits to build one in the Capitol View development in the north Gulch.
