Hi all,

I'm moving out of Nashville (near the Vanderbilt area) and I'll be renting a truck. I currently live in a 1 bedroom apartment and would just need help in hiring some labor to load the truck with my belongings. I don't have too many things - heavy items include couch + loveseat and a bedroom set.

Do you suggest any particular companies or labor options? Having just graduated, I would ideally like to save as much money as possible since I haven't started my job yet.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions! I really do appreciate your taking the time to read my thread.

I've heard of companies like 2 Men and a Truck hiring out labor (the 2 men with no truck). I'd also call Armstrong Relocation Services (615-793-9333) and see if that's something they do as well. I've had great experiences iwth Armstrong locally. Another, slightly more sketchy option I've heard of folks doing is just going down to a Home Depot or Lowes early in the morning and seeing if any day laborers are there and getting them to help.

If you rent your truck from UHaul, they can help you find people. Here is a list from their Nasvhille office. I would think the other companies would do the same:

The page I linked to defaulted to this one but there were lots of companies ranging from $100 to $200 for 2 hours of a 2 man crew. Those guys really work fast . . as long as you have everything ready and boxed up. I was able to leave soft things in my dressers but remember having to empty the stuff from a nightstand where the stuff wasn't secured and would shift around, possible open and spill.

If you put in your date, you should get the same page I did. And you DON'T have to use UHaul to hire any of these people.
