Default Bedford County Schools

We are relocating to the Nashville area soon and have been looking at houses. We have been limiting out search to Rutherford County because of their school system. However, there is a house in Bedford County that we like and I'd like to know if anyone has information on what their schools are like? Or does TN have a school of choice system like we have here in Michigan? Could I send my kids to Rutherford County for school if we live in Bedford?

Thanks for your help!!

Bedford County is a considerable distance from Nashville if you're thinking about commuting. It could be done, but there are probably better options for you. If you mean you only want to be in the general Nashville area, then Shelbyville might be a good option.

People can't generally live in one county and send their kid to another county school system. There are some limited choices that can be made within a school system, but it's all within the same county.

No, you wouldn't be able to do that.

I live in Bedford County. My husband commuted to Nashville 6 days a week. It is about 1 hour away depending were you have to go. The school are good. Have found that each school is different. Cascade and Community seem to have the best reputation. We homed school for 2 years but decided to place our children in Cascade and do not regret it at all. They are in the process of re-zoning the schools area because I believe three new schools are being added. You need to check out the board of ed. website. House are definitely a lot cheaper here then Rutherford. If i can help just ask. I moved from NJ to Tennessee in 99
