Default Chicago vs Nashville

My family & I are planning on moving from Chicago. We've heard great things about Nashville, but have never been there. What is Nashville like? Schools? Cost of living? Family friendly? Flavor/culture of the city? Fun things to do?

Thanks!

I just relocated here from Suburban Chicago. Nashville's flavor is like chickeny beef.

Seriously though, read through the message board and look at the voluminous number of posts relating to all of the topics you are trying to address. When you have more specific questions, post them.

I have friends here that are from Chicago and they like it here. Schools, with younger children its probably better to be in Williamson County, Wilson County or Rutherford County. Those counties cover a varied amount of different areas.
Cost of Living is lower than Chicago and there is no state income tax here on earned income or savings accounts.
Very family Friendly, My teen age daughter loves it here.
Culture, History Museums, Theater, Ballet, Symphony, The Frist Mueum for Art, Lots of interesting Antebellum Homes, like Belle Meade , Country Music Hall of Fame, Grand old Opry
Fun things- Music of Every kind, Nashville Zoo, Walking thru the Gaylord opryland hotel, which I must say was named the 9th largest in the World! Opry Mills Mall, large outlet mall with lots of fun places, Adventure Science Center.

Nashville is much smaller than Chicago. If you are want all the varied activities and large cultural areas/institutions that Chicago has to offer, you won't find it here. I'm not bashing Nashville, I love it here! It's just that it is not as big of a city as you might think looking in from the outside.

I moved from minneapolis and know people from chicago, nashville is smaller and one thing you will notice is that people freak out over 1/2 an inch of snow. and there isnt as much to do here, if you like sports, the predators and titans are always fun.
