Default HELP! Getting Married, Moving to Nashville....

Hi! I currently live in Ohio and my fiance lives in Nashville, west of Bellevue. He works in Brentwood and I will be working on the north side of Murfreesboro. I'd like to live 1/2 way between Brentwood & Murfreesboro, somewhere within 30 minutes of both, including rush hour traffic. We're looking to spend $300-$400K, and I'd like to build instead of buying an existing house, though that's not a requirement. I suggested Smyrna or Murfreesboro, but my fiance quickly nixed that idea. Any suggestions on where we should look? Thank you in advance!!

Because Murfreesboro and Smyrna aren't any option, you may want to look at La Vergne (Rutherford County) and Nolensville (Williamson County). I'm not too familiar with La Vergne, but Nolensville is a great little town. It has a small town center and has a lot of farms and land, but is growing a lot, too. As far as your price range, I know of two subdivisions in Nolensville building homes from the $300's: Bent Creek and Silver Stream, so you may want to Google those if you're interested.

Both Rutherford and Williamson Counties are great places to live. Williamson County Schools were ranked as the top public school system in TN in 2006, but Rutherford County also has very good schools. Rutherford County is more industrial and working class, while Williamson County is known of being more white collar and last year was ranked as the 11th wealthiest county in the U.S. For example, Smyrna (Rutherford) is home to a big Nissan manufacturing plant, while Franklin (Williamson) is now home to the Nissan Nat'l Headquarters. However, Williamson County does have some blue collar areas, as Rutherford County does have some upper class areas.

Good luck with your decision and merry Christmas!

Hi Shamrock -

I would suggest you look at Nolensville, Arrington, or College Grove. These are going to be in Williamson County and a nice drive to either Murfreesboro or Brentwood. Thompson Station is also an option but will be a longer drive for you coming to North Murfreesboro ~ probably 40 minutes. Someone else mentioned LaVergne, but I personally would not buy in LaVergne if my price range was as high as you indicated. I think you would be on the top of the market for that area plus if your fiance nixed the idea of Murfreesboro or Smyrna I can't imagine he would go for LaVergne. We lived in Brentwood and then moved to Murfreesboro about 9 years ago and have really enjoyed living here. We live in North Murfreesboro now and it is the easiest commute to Brentwood or Nashville. If you need any info about Middle TN feel free to send me a private message or email. I think you will love living here!
