Default Centex

I keep seeing ads about Centex and know nothing about them other than what is on their website. Does anyone have any experience with them, the quality of homes they build, the neighborhoods, etc? We weren't considering building to be honest, but just wanted to learn more about them, just in case!
Thanks!

I think you should do a google search and read what is out there for yourself. When I lived in San Antonio TX I remember hearing lots about them. Good luck.

We live in a Centex development in Franklin. Standard 2-story bricks, side garages, several models. None are on slabs here.

From what I have seen, they are a basic builder that sells you more space for less money. Not necessarily bad construction, just not all the finer touches.

We are currently having a house built in "Creekside" (Hendersonville). It is a very nice subdivision and reasonably priced! I have heard and read mostly good things about "Centex", hopefully it is true. The only thing is, they do not offer many options.... For instance, you can not choose any paint colors, it is either all white walls or all off white! And you can not even have your own private painter come in before the carpet is put down. They do not allow any "outside" work to be done until after closing However, all in all it is a beautiful development and good prices

We have a Centex neighborhood here in Murfreesboro, Blackman Farm, that is DISGUSTING. The homes are built on slabs, your lot size will barely fit your house so forget about a yard, and they are practically built on top of one another. The prices are great but there is evidence of cost-cutting measures wherever you look inside the house. I would NEVER buy one of their homes!!!!!
