Hello everyone,
My family and I are moving to the Nashville area this summer and I was looking at information for the Greenwood Apartments complex in Gallatin. On the apartment ratings website, it seems to have positive ratings but with the rents so inexpensive, I'm wondering if there's more to the story. Does anyone have more information on this place, as well as what they know about the rental situation for houses, duplexes and the like? Thank you in advance. |

Aren't those the ones right behind Gallatin High School? If so, that is an income-based complex with some pretty seedy residents. I used to work out at Fuel Fitness, which is in the Kroger shopping center right across from what I think is Greenwood, before I joined the YMCA. Sometimes after my workout I would jog down the road that runs by the school. I could always tell which cars were going to turn into Greenwood. 10-year-old Altimas, tinted windows, missing hubcaps, rap music thumping, etc. You can do better.
Just wanted to follow up on my last post. A quick Google search confirmed that the apartments I am thinking of are indeed Greenwood. The complex is part of the Tax Credit Affordable Housing program which gives developers tax incentives for building apartment complexes that cater exclusively to low-income residents and charging them much lower than market rent. This should answer your question about why the prices seem so low for the amenities you get. The trade-off, obviously, is that the likelihood of having questionable neighbors here is much higher than at a traditional apartment complex. Unless you are just absolutely strapped for cash, I would look elsewhere. Send me a DM if you like and I can point you toward some reasonably-priced complexes in Hendersonville (a nicer area overall than Gallatin) and a couple in Gallatin as well. Greenwood Apartments are "section 8" which is why the rent is so inexpensive. There are a couple more apartment complexes that are also section 8 in Gallatin. I would agree that Hendersonville has some nicer complexes than Gallatin, but they may also be a bit more pricey. I lived in Village Green Apartments for three years as a young college student (single woman), and I always felt safe there. The staff was very friendly as well, and they threw parties for the complex throughout the year. They are more expensive, but I enjoyed living there. Renting a house in Gallatin is pretty comparable to renting an apartment too.
