Default TN Bound...Again

Hi All...

Let me give you a little background. I was TN bound from NH two years ago and a business proposition landed me in Delaware instead. I looked at property as far west as Dickson but settled on Springfield. I thought it was close enough to Nashville to commute if I had to, big enough to offer some job opportunities if I had to get a job and had a population level that would benefit our current specialty printing business.

Springfield is still at the top of my list and my agent has sent me some listings, however, I am now thinking that we may be better off closer to Nashville...Like withing biking/walking distance to downtown or at least major shopping. We're looking for safe neighborhoods where we are not afraid to take the dog for a walk or ride a bike into town. We'd like to be in a safe but more populated area as we would rather park the car and ride bikes or walk. The real estate we're looking at is in the 100K-150K range. Which areas of Nashville should we stay away from? Is our price range reasonable for a nice ranch in a safe neighborhood in Nashville?

From a business perspective, what would an average rent be on a 1000+-sq/ft store front on a well traveled street in Springfield vs Nashville?

Thanks...Ross

You might want to try Smyrna since its not far from Nashville(I-24). You can find a nice house in that price range there and be very safe. Smyrna is really growing now, new shopping ctrs, they Just opened a Super Target. Lots of Retail space for rent there.

I love East Nashville, I walk/ride my bike many places and I'm a young professional that works Downtown and I couldn't love being 2 miles away from the office any more. With gas prices as high as they are a commute from Springfield sounds painful to me.

East Nashville does look interesting. We don't need a lot of space so a condo is a possibility, although a fenced backyard would be preferable for our dog. I've seen some listings in East Nashville that fit our budget, but without seeing in person it's hard to gauge the neighborhood. We may be making another trip to TN soon to do some house shopping.

What is it like around Shelby Park just South of Inglewood/Dalewood?

Thanks...Ross
