Default Alternative/Holistic/Naturopathic Doctors

Hi -- I'm moving from New York City to Nashville in June and am looking for a doctor. I currently go to the Health and Healing center Holistic Integrative Medicine and Health Care, Center for Health and Healing that is part of Beth Israel Hospital here in New York and would like to go to a place or person that is of similar ideas (ie alternative medicine vs western).

Can anyone refer a doctor/place to me?

thank you

Dr Stephen Reisman does a lot of work in alternative therapies. I saw him several years ago about some chronic health issues, and saw definite improvement.

Default me too

Hi,

Same here - I am looking for a doctor who deals with GI issues (bacterial overgrowth, delayed food allergies, etc.) and can also address hormonal and adrenal issues with bio-identical hormones. Looking at Dr. Reisman's website it seems that he does all of this and has several years of experience.

I was wondering if anybody here has worked with him on the hormonal balancing part or on delayed food allergies. I have been mis-diagnosed many times and want to be extra careful when I pick a new doctor. I live in Monterey, TN, about 1 1/2 hours from Nashville, but it would be worth the drive. And part of me would prefer a woman to handle my hormones because I feel they can just relate better, but if Dr. Reisman is good I am willing to work with him.

We moved here from Austin, TX and I still have a PA-C there who does my hormones. I love her and her experience and approach, but she feels it would be best for me to find someone locally and someone who can address my GI issues at the same time. I have a doctor here in Monterey who is sort of addressing my GI issues but I don't trust him with my hormones.

Any feedback is appreciated. Also, what is Dr. Reisman like? I am rather aggressive and have read a lot about the different things going on with my body. In a way that's good, but I also have a tendency to try and 'control' my treatment based on what I (think) I know. So it would be good for me to have a doctor who is nice but assertive and aggressive and won't let me control things.

What can I say - I'm a control freak and this is my health.

Thanks,
~K
