Relocating and need a home convenient to Brentwood
OK. So my firm has offered to relocate my job from Florida to the office in Brentwood. I've been there a couple of times and noticed that homes seem to be relatively expensive in Brentwood. I would like to be within an easy 15-20 minute commute or less. We are used to more rural areas or a house with a larger lot/acreage. We have 2 small children and would need to consider good schools within the next 2 or 3 years. Any suggestions on where we should look? Thanks for the help.

Franklin. There. Anything else?
Realtracs is the best search site.
Good luck!

If you would give some more specific information we can probably provide some helpful answers. What is the most you would want to spend for a house? Brentwood covers a large area and travel time to various locations depends on where you will be working in Brentwood. Travel time from various home locations to your place of work in Brentwood could vary as much as twenty minutes during rush hour, depending on where you work location is. Where will your work location be? When you say larger lot/acreage, what is the minimum size that is acceptable? To have no more than a 15-20 minute commute to Brentwood and placing a high priority on schools, you will probably be limited to Williamson County if you are looking at public schools. If you are open to private schools then you will obviously have more choices. Also, what are you looking for in a house as far as size, age, number of bedrooms, etc?
I hope things work out for you as this is a great area to live and raise a family.

Yes, we would first need to know what the maximum you would want or be able to spend on a home is. That is the defining factor.

Yes, price is paramount to helping answer some of your questions...and details as to what requirements you have for your home as well as commute time. There are some beautiful homes with 1/2 acre to acre lots in southern Franklin, but the price range will be in the $400-500k ballpark. Does that work for you and your family? And, what about schools...is that a defining factor?

We are probably more in the $300k - $350k range for house. We would like to have at least 2000 sf with 4/2. The office in Brentwood is right off of I65 at Old Hickory Blvd so I've figured that 65 will be the best way to commute but I'm open to suggestions. If I have to drive a little further to work in order to get the house we want, then that's just the way it's got to be. As for schools, we will probably want public, but my kids are 2 1/2 and under so that's not a huge factor right now. Thanks for your suggestions.

In Williamson County you might want to focus on the Franklin and Nolensville areas. If schools are not an issue you will have a lot to choose from in zip code 37211, which is adjacent to Brentwood but in Davidson County. You will have difficulty finding much to choose from in Brentwood for under 350k.
