News, Former Nashville mayor resists talk of run for governor.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Nashville mayor Bill Purcell says he's not considering running for governor in 2010 - at least for now.
The Democrat told The Tennessean he doesn't think about a gubernatorial run "much at all," but adds he has "a fairly good sense" of the state's needs after serving 10 years in the General Assembly. He was Nashville's mayor eight years.
