Default real estate search

I'm leaving an abusive relationship in florida and want/need to relocate to tn. I'm employed by Publix so need to be near one. I'm searching for an inexpensive (-100,000) home...preferably a fixer upper. I'm actually quite handy...though I was never appreciated as such. I think I NEED a fixer upper to validate my existence and make it seem worthwhile. OMG, I'm rambling...
I've visited every real estate website out there, but not really seeing what I think I"m looking for. Maybe it isn't out there.... Ideally, it's an acre or more, preferably more. It would have running water and electricity. It need not have fancy cabinets, walk in closets or anything else that might impress others. It would be in a safe area where my dog and I would feel secure, but need not be in an area where anyone would be impressed by the location. I'm thinking that my dream isn't on a real estate website, but a local news print or something. Any suggestions?

Have you tried Middle Tennessee Property Finder or Trulia - Real Estate, Homes For Sale, Sold Properties, Real Estate Maps or craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums ? Oh, how I wish I was handy. I'd love to fix up a house via the skill of my own two hands. Best of luck to you!

There's a new Publix at the intersection of Concord and Nolensville Road. Technically it's Brentwood, which is expensive, but maybe there are less expensive houses if you turn right onto Nolensville Road? It looks like there's still a lot of land out there. Of course I don't really know what I'm talking about (haha)...I'm just kinda guessing b/c I was driving out that way yesterday...but I bet someone on here knows for sure.

There's also a Publix off the new McEwen exit past Cool Springs. Are houses in Leiper's Fork and more rural areas of Franklin expensive?

Good luck! I admire what you're doing and I'll be praying for you! (Haha, you'll hear that a lot if you move here...lotttts of churches!)

Hi redkickingshoes,

First I want to say, I give you credit for what you are doing. You are not only breaking free from an unhealthy relationship, but you are relocating to another state and that takes guts. As far as Publix goes, (i work for them too) have you contacted the DM here in TN to see where they may need you? They may still be paying for moves here. I don't know what position you hold, but they can transfer you and pay for your move as well, if you are in an much needed position. It's best to contact the DM first and see what the availability is. DM me for his name if you haven't checked into it. At least this way you can look for housing close to where you will be working. I know two more stores will be opening in Murfreesboro and they will both need experienced help. You might find something in your price range in Christiana. They are some older homes out there and some modular homes that aren't that expensive.

I wish you much luck!

thanks kim!!!

My store manager is supposed to be emailing recipients in that area....she was supposed to be doing it a year ago....nobody wants/needs me! I started as a cashier, spent a couple years as a DSD clerk, fill in for the price/scan clerk as needed and currently hold the title of HBC clerk. I really don't care what I do...I'll do what they ask or need.... I think Publix is a wonderful employer and I hope to remain with them.

There's Publix in Smyrna and Murfreesboro. You can find fixer uppers in M'Boro for < than $100K - it's the acre that's going to be difficult to find.
