Hi Calicowgirl, My husband and I are moving from CA to White House/Cottontown/Cross Plains area. They all kinda run into eachother. We loved White House and Cottontown..Cross Plains is on the other side of Highway 65 I believe. Lot's of houses on lots of acres which we want. The area of all three cities are really nice. I would say thumbs up! I'm sure more people in the forum know more then I do. I was there last year just looking around..
Good luck with your move.

I live in Cottontown which is next to White House and Cross Plains. Sometimes you don't realize which town you're in. I would move to any of these 3 towns. You can get a very nice house for the money. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I live in Cross Plains and it is a very nice little town. We have a post office, drugstore, Drs. office, fire dept. city hall, new gas station (Texaco), dollar store, piggly wiggly grocery store, beauty salon, barber shop, automotive shop, B B Q place, 2 schools, bank, small restaurant, churchs, and a few others that I can't think of right now and very very little crime. I think its a nice little town to raise a family or to retire to. There are several new sub-divisions. We are only about 15 minutes from major shopping malls and some very good restaurants and about 40 miles from Nashville.

sounds perfect im 23 but an old soul looking to live on acreage away from people, as i do have 5 dogs, will have more and lots of farm animals once im established 5-10 years down the road, is it close enough to a commute to a city where i can easily find a job. i loved pleasant view and was perfectly set between nashville and clarskville, but recently got told about cross plains and might be having a change of heart. i am a christian so a good church is important but i love country 2 step, ballroom and line dancing so i would like a city close enough to go dance once aweek or so, ya im addicted i wish it could be every night! thanks for everyones input

As I said Nashville is about 40 miles away(I checked mapquest and it"s actually 33.65 miles away) and my son lives next door to me and he works in Nashville. There is lot of entertainment in Nashville. There is also several smaller town between Cross Plains and Nashville where you can go dancing. I think you would enjoy our little town very much and you would be very welcomed.

I don't believe Cross Plains has any apartment complexes. Everything would mostly be homes or garage-type apartments, or mobile homes and usually only posted on a "For Rent" sign in front of the location.
Good Luck!

Cross Plains is a very nice area. I like that whole region of Cross Plains, Orlinda, Portland, White House, Greenbrier. Any of those areas would probably be what you're looking for, and close enough to the Rivergate area for entertainment and shopping, so you wouldn't have to go all the way into the main Nashville area for any of that.
