Well said Yank283. My honest opinion is that the builder has targeted TN as a proposed site for this monstrosity because he believes that we are a just a bunch of stupid bible-thumping hicks who will fall for anything with Jesus' name attached to it. At least we showed him differently in Murfreesboro.

There's enough of that, though, to support many other similarly ill-conceived businesses. Why use a cross as your logo to sell anything? We call that PF-ing. Performance Faith. PF-ers are the folks who may or not walk the walk, but they sure have a fish on their car, WWJD on their wrist, and their retreat photo on their shirt. PF-ers might commit adultery and cheat their customers, but they tell everyone they know how blessed they feel to be able to find a Christian pizza place, see a chiropractor of faith, and know that their oil change guy shares their faith.

As a Christian, this probably irks me more than it should, but I've never seen this before anywhere else. I mean, there are bad apples everywhere. That's not it. It's the screaming, "I love Jesus! Look at me, I'm a good Christian!", that gets me.

Yep, there's plenty of "Faith-based" businesses down there - I know, I used to work for one of them. Some people eat that stuff up, and the people running the businesses know that they can find people that will eat it up.

The place I worked for actually sort of ruined working for any sort of faith connected business for me. In fact, I actually could use a new job, and a Methodist organization up here needs a person in my field, but I have no desire to apply for it because I wouldn't want to be treated the way I was at the other place, all the while being fed their "beliefs."

My 2 cents is that The Bible Park is about money. I am old enough to remember Heritage USA.

I think you guys are exactly right. If this new Bible park thingy were really about bringing people to Jesus, why isn't it some non-profit missionary group doing it? While I know there are plenty of people out there who will open their wallets for anything with the word "Bible" on it, I still think it's shameful that some clever (or not so clever) businessmen keep trying to think of ways to get that money.

And I agree akm4, I'm much more impressed with someone's Christian credentials when they quietly go about living a Christian life than how many bumper stickers they have on their cars or how many jeweled crosses they have around their necks. For that matter, I'm more humbled by a church who spends its money feeding the hungry and clothing the poor instead of erecting monstrous crosses along our highways.

I'd much rather see a Six Flags come to Nashville than a Bible park. At least Six Flags doesn't hide the fact that they're all about making money.
