Okay, here goes. My family is considering the Nashville area for relocation. We are currently in SW VA where the economy is dying. Help me zero in on a few areas where we might find the following:

3-4 bedroom home on at least an acre and not in a subdivision to rent under $1000 mo..
(Would love an old farmhouse but.....)
A ruralish setting but maybe no more than 10-15 minutes to shopping. A Super Wal-Mart would be great.

Good Schools are a MUST. I have five kids, 2 in middle school and 3 in elementary. All 5 are A/B students here but we have no programs for gifted/accellerated students. No I cannot afford private schools.

Some decent fishing nearby would be great.

High speed internet. Anything is better than dial-up!

Any suggestions or reality checks would be greatly appreciated. We originally looked at charleston, SC as our destination but realisticly I don't think we could afford to live there.

Thanks!

Which of these are your highest priority? Maybe a list of most important or non-negotiable to least important or "would be nice."

Odds are, you'll need to make some tradeoffs.

Vamtncat, look in the Wilson county area. It's not that far from Nashville and the schools are good. We just bought a small mini-farm 12 miles from Lebanon and we absolutely love it out here! Affordable too!
