Hi Joyce,

Just letting you know that I kind of feel your pain. I grew up in Michigan but lived in Green Bay for 20 years before moving to TN. I do, however, really enjoy living in the Nashville area. But yes, I really REALLY miss the people "at home". It's just hard to explain. We might not have the same manners out on display in the midwest but the people are genuine and so ready to reach out. I miss that.

Hey guys, does anyone know if you can get Iron City beer anywhere in nashville or the surronding areas? We are doing kielbasa and pierogies for the super bowl and Iron City beer would round it off nicely.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Iron City. The Steelers are one of our favorite teams too (especially since I'm so mad at the packers). my hubby likes Iron City.

Try these distributors

RS Lipman Company 615-244-2230

Another beer option for you Pittsburgh fans if you can't find Iron City is Yuengling. It's probably not what many of us think of as a local staple who may have lived there, but it's awfully popular there now.

Any hey, to clarify my earlier post, I'm trying to love Nashville - I don't dislike it, just don't love it and am still homesick for MN and PA after 6+ years here. I've always made close friends at work and in my neighborhood, and that just hasn't happened here, the environments are different. And while there is indeed a strong Southern Charm, it seems to be fairly superficial, in my experience - no offense intended to all those exceptions to the rule here in the South, who I haven't had the good fortune to meet yet! Maybe because this is an entertainment town, it's just different, but I'm not used to getting together with what is best called acquaintences for chili and games at someone's house, and having the women show up in heels and completely glammed up attire. I am fairly "girly", doing hair and some makeup just to hang out, but I'm used to wearing a sweatshirt and jeans for events like that (like the folks in MN and PA). And there's lots of kissing when coming and going here too -- it's strange. Seems like the conversations in MN and PA had a little more substance and less glitz too. So I either need to meet some new people here, or get used to a whole new way of doing things. And I acknowledge the former is entirely possible - I work too much...

My family is from Elizabeth, PA. My grandmother worked for years in McKeesport. My cousins went to Pitt and Duquesne. I spent all my summers there.

A few FYI's. Our government loves sin taxes so not much difference here there. Our weather is worse than temperate, it's erratic. Extremely hot and humid, followed by rain pouring down, followed by a cold snap. Can happen in almost any week of the year. Our winters are much milder though... but its easier to bundle up and go outside then try to step outside when it's sweltering here. And our cost of living is good so not much difference there. But I love it here. However, it's a big change from Pittsburgh.
