Any positive or negative information on working for the Gaylord Opryland? Lots of positions available online and wondering if the hiring pool is shallow, turnover is high, or they are busy enough to need lots of culinary people. Is it a seasonal employer? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a 20 year hotel background (downtown) although I never worked at Oland. They need lots of people because they have a HUGE operation with over 3,000 guest rooms and banquet and food service to go with it. If they are still there I know the Exec Chef (Swan) and at least one other Chef (Libby), both of them good people. There is no “seasonality” to their business, busy all the time. You would have to decide if the pay and benefits are good enough for you but I can’t think of any reason not to give them a try. They are now nation wide as well so there is opportunity with them beyond Nashville. Hope that helps, feel free to contact me off line with any questions.

I worked at Opryland in the 90's and it wasn't an awful place to work. There are much worse. The pay isn't great but the benefits are wonderful! You get a free lunch and if you work a uniformed position, your dry cleaning is free.
