I already have a place I can stay in Nashville and will post that in my resume. Hopefully, that looks like I am serious enough (because I am!!). I just don't want to move down there and not have a job lined up.

So what do people do then? Surely many have secured a job before re=locating? Is working through a recruiter the answer?

working through a recruiter works if you have a skill set that they can't find in nashville, but it is hard to get a job out of town. My husband got a job down here working for a client, but I didn't get any serious response to my job applications until I was in town and even then I had people asking if I was really in town even though I had a 615 number and a Franklin address.

former Connecticut Yankee
Rev2S,
I'm a Tennessee Yankee now. Moved here late autumn of '06. Live in Spring Hill and work in Franklin. I really love this place. The people are nice, the scenery is lovely and the winters are a breeze compared to CT!
I can't add much to the good advice you've already been given here. Just want to wish you best of luck with your plans.
48Bob
ps: Where abouts in Nutmeg are you? I'm from Vernon originally.

You would be looking at anywhere from 20 minutes to Franklin and 35 max to Spring Hill. The commute is nothing like you would be compared to coming from up North. When you learn how to drive it and which lanes to be and not to be in it can be quite easy. Any neighborhood in South Nashville will put you in a good area. You are in Williamson County and the schools are good. In Franklin you will not get as much for your money as if you were in Spring Hill or Thompson's Station. It is worth a little longer commute to be able to buy more for your money and be in an area that is still appreciating.

Yes, working with a recruiter is the way to go. I'm sure some have received jobs through the message boards, but I would imagine that is a very low percentage.
