I live in Inglewood and i would not suggest staying in any hotels technically in East Nashville. Most are on Dickerson Pike in the rough areas and you could not walk to 5 Points anyways. There is a Stadium Inn and a Ramada (?) technically on the east side but you would have to walk near Cayce Homes or the lower end of Woodland Street to get to Five Points. While I have walked and biked Woodland at night (coming from downtown) I wouldn't recomend someone not familiar with the area at all...Besides both hotels look pretty dumpy from the outside (never been in them). Here is a nice Bed and Breakfest you might want to check out near 5 Points in Lockland Springs which would be a lot safer area and very walkable to all the bars and resteraunts.

Besides that, I would probably recomend staying somewhere downtown and just cabing it to 5 Points. It's less than 2 miles or so and a cab will be easily avaliable and really cheap. Part of the charm of the area is that it isn't overdeveloped and commercial (no chain resteraunts) but unfortunately that means a lack of any quality hotels in the area also. Really hard to believe since the Titans stadium has been there for ten years. I think that may change once PSC Metals sells to another commercial interest. Have fun during your stay in Nashville. The Tomato Art Fest is August 9th. Lot's of fun...

The motels that are closest to 5 Points are on the Interstate, and I wouldn't let family or friends stay there.

If they don't want to stay Downtown (due to the cost, etc), they could always get a room over near OpryLand. There's a Radisson, plus Fiddler's Inn. It would be a straight shot up Gallatin Road, onto Eastbound Briley Pkwy. They would get off at the 1st exit.

Myself, I would stay away from "Shopry Land" and pay the extra to stay downtown. While kinda of close to East Nashville, Opry Mills would be considered suburban and I'll take a guess and going to a mall is not what you are looking for. It's across the river and would be a little drive. If you want, drive out there during the day and take a tour of the hotel (which is pretty cool), but I would not stay there, stay downtown, just my opinion.

Who knows? There's talk abut this time every year about someone buying that property. Last summer was about a developer in California but they said it would take a year to finalize the contract. Of'course nothing has seemed to come of that. I suspect if they do not sell in the near future, eminent domain may come into the picture. Can't blame them for wanting to stay, immediate access to the river, highway and rail system. That would be hard to replace.

When we were househunting we stayed at a great b&B called the Big Bungalow, on Fatherland street. It was lovely, and close to everything. You can really get a sense of East Nashville.

I wasn't talking about Opry Mills. I was talking about the hotels "near" OpryLand. They're not suburban, they're still Nashville and easier to get to. I'd rather park my car there for the night.

I agree Artemis. You are talking about Music Valley Drive. It has hotels on it no even related to Opryland.

Well, isn't that technically Donelson? I assume someone interested in East Nashville would want to stay closer than a 10 miles away.
