Default Nashville area traffic and crime comparison

Since I have heard many people talk about traffic and crime in the area, I am trying to get a good feel as to what yall consider traffic and crime. To give you my background, I was born and raised in New Orleans and have lived in the DC area for the last few years. Coming from the New Orleans/DC area, crime to me may somewhat be different than what it is for you - pretty much its the likelyhood of walking down the street and being shot or robbed, or attacked my machete wielding illegal immigrants (illegal immigrant gangs are worse than the usual gangs in this area). As far as traffic goes, I consider my traffic bad - its takes me anywhere between 45-90 minutes to get to and from work each day depending on traffic, and my job is only 14 miles away. Has anyone thats moved to Nashville lived in either the New Orleans or DC area that can help me get a good idea of what I can expect in the Nashville area?

I lived in the Washington, D.C. area for about 12 years and still have family in the area. On a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being the worst, I'd rate D.C. crime about an 8 and Nashville crime about a 4. As far as traffic, I'd rate D.C. traffic about 9.5 and Nashville traffic about 5. Hope this helps.

Good thing about Nashville is you can actually defend yourself against crime if needed...DC HATES for citizens to have guns.

I lived right outside of New York City (I know it isn't D.C. or New Orleans) but from my experience, gbone seems right on target!
