That is it, Joelton. A friend mentioned it but I forgot the name. Thanks for mentioning it.

Someone mentioned Coopertown to me. What is it, that area like? Seems close to Springfield.

Music City USA - KimP is on a distinguished road
Default Hello Leonard

Go to Tennessee.gov to get all kinds of info on Tennessee. I live in Franklin, TN in the Grassland area. Look at this nice place. Copy and paste www.tinyurl.com/5npa6y". Older homes with bigger lots. This is just an example. Or go to City of Franklin - Home Page to check out Franklin.

I'm originally from East TN and we used to go up to KY all the time. The big differences between KY and TN are that for one, KY has A LOT less people living in it, which means that what I've seen is that houses are generally a better value for your dollar. Me and my Wife live out of state now, but we looked around KY a year back and were amazed at what you could get: Old, large, historical homes for far less than TN. Then again, the economy of KY isn't as strong, which I assume you don't care about since you're retiring. I know that KY has sort of escaped the list of places that out-of-state refugees have been hitting, thus again- there's less competition for space and homes.

Yeah, you can find some pretty good deals in Kentucky. My parents bought a crumbling old bungalow in Slaughters, KY (okay, that's 2 hr. 45 min. hours SW of Louisville) in 1983 for something like $12,000. Refurbished it to like new condition and it was a beautiful house! You can still find deals like that today for $40-55K in rural-most areas of Kentucky, once you get more than 1 hr. 30 min. away from the major cities.

The only areas in Kentucky where there's fast competition for space and homes are (1) suburban Louisville (E/NE Jefferson, Oldham, and N. Bullitt Cos.,) (2) suburban Lexington (outside New Circle Rd., Georgetown, and Nicholasville,) and (3) Boone County.

I have lived in both Bowling Green, KY and currently, Nashville, TN. There ARE parts of Nashville to avoid and one of the biggest problem areas are south of nashville---Antioch is HELL!! The crime is terrible! I lived there briefly when I moved from KY only to have my car broken into and thugs shooting each other outside! I now live in Brentwood, TN----more expensive, but WORTH THE MONEY! Bowling Green is a nice small town. It doesn't have alot of crime, however, it isn't career friendly either---unless you want to work in a factory. I moved to Nashville, TN to pursue my Masters degree in Psy. But, when I am finished here.....I won't be living in the south! Just a heads up!
