Looking for Midwestern transplants
We are thinking of moving to Nashville for many reasons. I would love to hear from transplants on what they like and dislike about Nashville vs. the midwest. We are in a suburb of Cleveland, OH...but I do work downtown...and I would be working in downtown Nashville if we moved.
We have visited several times....and love it...but I know "visiting" is much different from living there.
I would love to hear the good, the bad and the ugly

I have recently moved to Nashville from Ann Arbor MI and I love it here. The winters let me run all winter. The summers are a bit warm and muggy. But the city itself is great. I live a bit outside nashville and the commute in is not too bad leaving around 8:15 I can be on my computer at work in less than a half hour. The people are really friendly here. Like any big city there are places to avoid but overall I would say it is a great place to live!

I moved from Ann Arbor too last year! I was raised here so I knew the area quite well before moving back.
Do you miss certain things about A2? I definitely miss how walkable it was. I lived near campus and downtown so I walked around half of the time. Very glad to be back in Nashville though. This city is so much improved from when I left it years ago and it's only getting better.

Thanks!
I know that we are nervous about all the changes it involves as I have two young children and a house to sell. The economy up here has just gotten so bad...and I am getting tired of the ceiling of clouds. I want to raise my kids in a vibrant positive atmoshpere and that always seems to be what we find when we visit.
Is it true the people really are nicer?
I'll probably miss the snow just a tiny bit....love waking up to fresh fallen snow on a saturday morning.....not on Mondays though with the commute to work being 2 hours!

I missed waking up to the snow too. I don't miss my car undercarriage starting to rust from the salt and my shoes getting ruined though.
I guess whether the people are nicer is subjective. From my experiences, people are more outwardly sociable (ex: they'll talk to you about really random things) but not necessarily friendlier.

Oh yeah...love what the salt does to our cars. I really only like snow if I get to look out the window at it.

I do miss looking at the snow! That is for sure, I don't miss driving in it though! Plus when it threatens snow here they cancel school so I can't imagine what it would be like if it actually DID snow.

snow
Here it has to be close to 2-3 feet of snow before they even consider closing school. Worse where I grew up in PA...I remember standing out for the bus in all out blizzards and that darn bus would show up.
