Like Murfreesboro? Check out Lascassas!
Yes. it's Murfreesboro's little secret.....just outside the city..best of both worlds...cheaper houses, lower taxes, and surprisingly lots of ex-boro types who sought to flee those tight high tax subdivisions in the city for more breathing space - lots are bigger, houses newer, schools are great, and a stones throw to the best shopping and services without the city taxes! And a LOT less traffic out this way...STAY away from Medical Center Drive area...Thompson... Broad..congested and getting worse...there are some nicer more "civilized" areas is all I am saying...I prefer it anyway - happy to have found Lascassas......just bought fresh peaches from a roadside stand down the street from my house...oh, and it starts to get hillier and greener as you head east toward Manchester..home of BONAROO...just up the road! Talk about a great place for musicians...good luck...to me this is where TN starts to get pretty..less flat and farmland and more pastoral....just my opinion..Murfreesboro has some gorgeous areas too..but they are expensive compared to here...12b

Yes, less traffic until everybody else discovers your little secret and starts moving there too.

You must be profiting somehow from the promotion of Lascassas. If I ever sound like this when I say how great Murfreesboro is, please shoot me!

Lascassas is nothing new, nore is it a secret. It's always been there the 30+ years we drove past it each way. IMO, the school truly sucks. Come to a DeKalb ball game, and go to a school game in Lascassas. In our school they say a prayer for the kids before the game, and then we do the hand over the heart thing ( called national anthem ). In Lascassas, they don't allow either one. This is America, and thats why I'm proud of DeKalb co. You come to a DeKalb game, you'll hear both, it don't matter if you believe in God or our country or not the visitors will hear it anyways. Parents of teams that come play in our school that don't like it, well, they know the way out of our school same way they got there.

Why all the hype for Lascassas? They are building plenty of high-priced, McMansion-filed subdivisions there, just like they are in the city limits. Also, it's too far from the interstate for my liking.

You should check out Mississippi, you might fit in quite well there.

I fit in here quite well. Most of us think alike here, and are of the same people. Home is here, home is where I'll die

schools not an issue with me...Alexandria is too far out of loop for me...it's just a preference. in Lascassas I am a stones throw from the Avenue, (rivals Greens Hills mall..Steinmart, etc...I love access to decent shopping without having to subsidize it...restaurants, MTSU for continuing ed If I want it..and access to concerts, etc...that sales tax inTN is enough of sticker shock...as far as school is concerned, I taught high school in the catholic diocese so don't talk to me bout sports! We won the state division four years straight!

1. I would not compare the shopping at the Avenue with Green Hills. Steinmart is not Lacoste, Lucky, Brooks Brothers and all the other high end stores at GH not to mention Nordstroms will be coming to GHs.
2. I wouldn't advertise Lascassas too much. someone like me might move there and trust me the first time you say a prayer at a public school event I will be the Doe ind Doe v. Lascassas filed by the ACLU.

No you're not. It's like 10 miles through all the city traffic. Let's not exaggerate.
I really dislike Green Hills, so I hate defending it, but c'mon? The Avenue is for the middle income shopper and the Green Hills is more for the updity crowd. Two different socioeconomic groups.
