You guys will land those jobs...

I once worked at Kroger and HATED the store I was at, As did many other employees and our manager pulled us aside and said something I'll never forget...

" Nashville has so many jobs opportunities, If you're not happy here, You'll be able to find a job within a day. "

It's true too, This is the only city I've EVER lived in where I could head out the door at 8am looking for work and come home by 5pm with a new, full-time decent or better paying job.

Good luck people !

Is the job market that good in Nashville?? Is that most people's experience? I am just trying to get a feel for the job market there, but it sounds very encouraging!

Okay...My latest update on the Monster.com job fair is that it sucked. I went down there not expecting much but I probably would never go to a job fair again unless I had a list of the employers that will be there. There was a total of less than 10 employers but the line of people that were going through stretched well into the lobby (hundreds of people). They could only let a limited amount of people in there at a time.

Anyone else with a similar experience?

I'm amazed to hear people saying that job searching is easy here. My husband and I moved here because of MY job change. He has been looking for 3 months now. The only serious interview he's gotten didn't go anywhere because they decided he was over qualified. He's looking for job in a salary range lower than anything he's EVER worked for and still can't find anything.....

Could it be the field he is in?

My son has been looking a couple of months now for a customer service job. He is still currently in NJ, but has expressed on his cover letter that his family lives in Nashville. He has been her a few times for inteviews with recruiters. He probably could get a lower paying entry level job, but he is no longer entry level in that field. He will take less than he is making, because here there is no state tax. He wants to rent his own apt so it has to be enough to pay rent.

hahah! it's funny what 8 months will do. There are ZERO jobs in nashville now. I have a bachelor's degree and can't even get a job at Burger King. Not Kroger. Not even day labor because I have an expired drivers license. can't get a new one without a job pay stub. I've been here for 3 weeks on the prowl for anything whatsover and have only had 1 interview. and these are all jobs i'm qualified for and I have a great resume. That person's post above about working at Kroger and then leaving and finding a job right away was hysterical. I laughed a good great deal at that. I can't even get a job there with grocery experience, a bachelor's degree and customer service management experience. I'm 30. LOLL! ROFL!! I make money by busking on the street, about $40 a day. but it takes 5 hours to earn that. if that. Welcome to the new America. There are more criminals than civilians at this point.

If I were a hiring manager, I wouldn't have a job for someone with your attitude who can't even keep his driver's license up to date.

The state doesn't require that you have a job to get a drivers license.
