Nashville Food?
I am going to be in Nashville for the weekend, does anyone have suggestions for dinner? I have read alot of places on line but thought I would toss it out to someone that lives there. Also I have heard alot about the Pancake Pantry, what can you tell me.

Pancake Pantry is awesome, but it's not open for dinner. It's definitely a great place for breakfast, though. Just be prepared to stand in line a bit (it's usually worth the wait).

There are so many great places, I think!! I wouldn't know where to begin. What kind of food do you like best? Is cost a factor?
Also, if you do a search in the Nashville forum for "restaurants" there are several threads with lots of descriptions from people around here.

You might also check tripadvisor.com. I always go there first when going to a new city...
Here are a few Nashville institiutions:
Rotier's (on Elliston Place, near Baptist Hospital/Vanderbilt/Centennial Park) is well known as being the best burger joint in Nashville. They're a meat and three also, so there is some variety on the menu...but you have to try a cheeseburger at least.
Gerst Haus (near LP Field, just off the interstate) is a very old German restaurant. Although this location is fairly new, the restaurant itself is about 75 years old or more. Good German food.
There are lots of good BBQ joints around, I'm partial to Martin's BBQ which is south of Nashville in Nolensville. If you're staying downtown, South Street Restaurant and Bar on South Street (next to the Boundry) is really good.
If you're a little adventuresome and really like hot food, you might try Prince's Hot Chicken Shack on Ewing Dr. (just off Dickerson Rd) There's not a lot of space to eat there and the wait is notoriously long, and it's in a slightly rough part of town, but you'll be treated to a unique Nashville specialty: hot chicken. Very good stuff. I'm warning you, however, it is very very hot. Their "mild" is like most restaurant's "hot" and it goes up from there.
In general, there are loads of good places on and around West End Avenue and Vanderbilt. If you have specific cuisine in mind or a specific price range, let us know and we can give you better choices.

If you want to eat somewhere local, as opposed to a chain restaurant, check out this site for some ideas: Nashville Originals - Independent, locally-owned restaurants
Pancake Pantry is awesome...definitely be prepared for a wait, especially on the weekend. But it's worth it. Have some chocolate chip pancakes for me!

Oh I LOVE when money is not a concern!! I have two favorite places we go when we have a little extra for the bill than usual. Here are their websites:
http://www.eastlandcafe.com/
http://www.margotcafe.com/home.htm
For Italian, we like this one:
http://www.solemionash.com/
We recently tried Cabana and liked it a lot too. Here's their website:
CabanaNashville.com - Home
You might want to make reservations if you try any of the above, since it's going to be the weekend.
I like so many restaurants! It's really hard to narrow it down, especially when each person's taste can be so different. We moved to Nashville about four years ago from a TINY town--so I feel spoiled to have so many choices. If you're coming from a large city, you might not be so easily thrilled.
Hope you have a wonderful time! Be sure to post back and tell us what all you ended up doing and where you ate!
