How are the gift card purchases matched, do they donate however much you spend on a gift card to Habitat for Humanity?
Some places that "match" your gift cards give them to you like it's half off, I don't think that's what you're saying...but I sure don't want to miss out if it is.

I love Skyline Commons and the new Lowe's and I will support the gentrification of Dickerson Road and all of Northeast Nashville zip code 37207.
I really really want to see more middle class whites, hispanics, and asians to move in just like with East Nashville 37206 very much and to see some upscale housing built so we can get clean upscale grocers like Harris Teeter for example and other good stuff.
If you are looking for all of the safe good neighborhoods and more nice decent places in zip code 37207 I can help you very much since I know it very well and live here as well.

Meanwhile, a 16 year old girl was shot to death yesterday in her bedroom in a drive-by shooting in a neighborhood in 37207 not very far from Skyline Commons. My condolences to her family (who I am sure don't think this is a safe neighborhood)!

I used to drive through this area all the time as a detour from I-65. I don't like it. I'm glad they are trying to improve it, but it still needs work and there is still a dangerous element present.
That said, Nashville just made another list. It is the 9th most dangerous city in America.

"Match" for Lowe's means 100% match. Whatever you spend on a gift card or put on a gift card they would have given that amount to Habitat for Humanity. It is currently the only charity that Lowe's supports or works with, but they do things with/for the girl scouts and boy scouts also, just not as much.

This can and does happen anywhere. I live in a small county in Tennessee, in an even smaller community. Where we do not have drive-by shootings, we still have drugs and gangs in our schools. In White Bluff (not even 30 minutes away from me in the county I grew up in) a couple of foster kids shot and killed their foster mom and foster grand-mother last fall. THIS HAPPENS EVERYWHERE, FROM TIME TO TIME! Crime is crime and the only way to stop it is----wait, there is no way to stop it. It is free will at work. We can only try to teach our children to be better than their parents. As a parent, I try to do that. As I child I see the mistakes my parents made with me and try to learn from them as well as my own. Not everyone does this. Not everyone cares. Unfortunately, not every parents gives a crap what their child is doing, or can be there with their kids to keep them out of trouble.

Northeast Nashville Gentrification
I feel sad about that too but Northeast Nashville is not that bad in my opinion me and my family have always lived here in a good middle class neighborhood and I would invest in it very much if I could and I am confident it can gentrify because East Nashville had the same problem several years ago and it changed to be fairly safe.
Why not make Dickerson Road the next Charlotte Pike so we can have a Publix,Trader Joes,Petsmart, and other stores because there is much land for sale around here for retail,it's not crowded up,people just about have the money for it,crime can be stopped so why not as we are all tired of driving to other areas and what not for decent shopping.

I have to agree with you on that. I do not like the fact that my husband has to drive a full hour and change to go to work. Especially when there is a Lowe's not even thirty minutes away from our home. But, you have to go where the money is and at he moment that is where it is, for him. He could have stayed in Dickson, but would have had to keep the position he was in and stay at an hourly wage. Now he is in a salaried position, making more money, and climbing that corporate ladder faster. This works better for him, but the major draw-back is that family time is lost to drive time.

Publix on Dickerson Road could go perfectly in the gravelish lot across from the new Skyline Commons Shopping Center and Trader Joe's could go where Walgreens used to be near Mapco Express and I did mention those spots to both businesses.Dickerson Road and all of zip code 37207 do now have the money for Publix and so if they want a East Nashville store than this is the time and place to do it.
Now indeed Publix,Trader Joe's,and Petsmart will all do just fine on Dickerson Road and just making Dickerson Road a diverse Charlotte Pike like area is all I want and I would think the real gentrification has only began for zip code 37207 and we finally have a Mapco Express converted to their more upscale Mapco Mart that will soon be finished near Soap Opera Laundry.I live around here in a nice safe middle class neighborhood and I see great potential for this area.

I work in this area and have seen vast improvements in the 13 years I have been here. A co-worker at my company, NorthStar Studios, said he heard, while talking to an employee at the new Lowe's. Cracker Barrel and Logan's are looking at the area for new restaurants. I hope this is true because I love Cracker Barrel. I used to live on Brick Church Pike, near Channel 5's transmitter and tower, and never did find this area all that bad. I never worried about my safety, I just kept familiar with my surroundings.

And I've got to say, and I never thought I would, the new Walmart is looking pretty snazzy. Must be a new design. I've very pleased with all this development. From Inglewood, it's a very short drive, but far enough to not impact our traffic much. And I know back ways from here to there. I can't say enough good things about the new Lowe's. I'm quite a fan of the Inglewood Home Depot, but with both of them nearby, I'm about in heaven. Give me a T.J. Maxx or something similar and I'll dance with the buffalo on Dickerson Road.

Yes that Walmart is looking very good and I did mention that 23 acre lot across the street from there to Publix and they emailed me to say they are aware of it and perhaps by small chance they may consider a store there so I do hope they decide to do it.
I also tried to get Trader Joe's to build where Walgreens used to be at on Dickerson Road near Mapco Express so lets hope for it.Zip code 37207 is going thru early gentrification so I guess it takes time but I see much potential for East and Northeast Nashville.
