I am considering transfering to Nashville from Oregon. The company I work for has an office just off of hwy 24 just south of the airport. I am wondering where everyone would recommend living that would be within a 20 minute drive from work.

Some things that I need are, shopping for the wife ie. target, walmart, etc.
I also have 2 small girls so a nice kid friendly area is a must.

Lastly I would like a nice house w/ maybe a little bit if property, ie. an acre or 2. My budget would be around $200k.

Where would be the best place to call home.

Thanks,

Brian

Donelson would be about that distance and a nice area.

Donelson is nice, but an acre or two for $200K isn't going to happen. Anything we considered livable started at around $180K which included barely enough land to park my crew cab PU truck. You'll have to venture outside the city a little to find a house AND land for $200K.

You could probably get that in Wilson County. Alot of the area around Mt. Juliet is going to be more expensive than that for 2 acres. You could probably still get a small house on 2 acres with in a 20 min drive, in the more rural areas southeast of Mt. Juliet and South of Lebanon. Or drive a little further and get a bigger house and more acreage.

You might look for something in or around Nolensville since you're thinking of an acre or two for $200K. It's wouldn't be a long commute to the south of the airport and it's a pretty nice area from what people tell me (I'm only in the area occasionally).

How about in Lavergne and Smyrna. You can even get a brand new house for just about $180. A colleague of mine got her brand new house for $115,000 in Lavergne. Not sure when but Im guessing less than 10 years ago. She said it is about 30minute drive to the airport.

IMO, Lavergne is questionable. I'm sure there are fine areas, but they are few and far between. Smyrna is much nicer.

Thanks Steve_TN.

Smyrna is much farther from where I work but nice to know that it is nicer.

I was also told that Mt Juliet is ideal.
