I will never forget either of those for as long as I live! Especially those damn palmettos! Why do you think I have 4 cats? I never had to worry at home, but at work was another story entirely!

Being afraid of MOST bugs... I HAD to ask about the bug population in TN before we started looking at houses in Mt. Juliet. I thought that there were "palmetto bugs" in TN as well??
While on the creepy subject, just how bad are the black widows in TN?? I thought I saw one in the shower while we were staying there.... Also what is the deal with snakes??
I am all itchy now... LOL

No palmettos here. I have been here a year now and I have not seen one snake or black widow. Just some beetles, june bugs, cicades(sp) and tiny spiders. Now the cicades has the same effect on me as palmettos. Those suckers fly and scream. It's an awful sound, but I really only saw one. I could hear them though. Pretty scary. I am totally bugphobic! I spray constantly so I never have really seen anything in the house. I also spray under the house. I am neurotic I know!

haha! you sound like me. I bombed the heck out of this place before we moved in and then walked the place the next day to see if I got anything. If I didn't have dead bodies we could move in. If we did, we would have to do it again just to be sure. Get a cat! You will never have anything live in your house again. I have 4 of them. Bugs don't stand a chance! From your name, I assume, you are coming from Long Island. I can remember lots of bugs there. Daddy Long Legs spiders, tons of crickets, mosquitos, preying mantis, but nothing that could harm you. In the south, it is a little different, we have fire ants that can put a hurtin on ya and some poisonous spiders too. I think you see more of these things the more rural you live. I think that makes a difference.
*Tip* someone here told me to throw crab apples under the house cause spiders hate them. She is going to give me some.

You mean like snakes.
Think of the first occurrence of a family having trouble with a snake. There was an apple involved then too.
