My daughter and I drove from Johnson City to Memphis today. We only saw very few stations that were out of gas completely, although quite a few seemed to have only the 87 octane available. The only place we saw lines formed was at a station at the Gallatin exit. Prices along the highway (mostly I-40) were for the most part in the 3.79 to 3.99 range, the exception being Knoxville, where prices were around 3.49.

This blows! Especially now that other places are starting to run out, too.
You said it Mary! This really blows! I hope by mid-week it gets better.

A friend of mine called me this evening from Asheville, and told me she was driving all over town trying to find gas. Something is up in that region of the country.

I'm starting to think TN is an experiment. Limit the gas, and see how much we will pay to get more.

We should all park our cars then. I mean really, the way things are going, how they going to take ''all of our houses'' if we stay home a few weeks? It's not like houses are selling like hotcakes at the moment.

Does anyone know the gas situation along I-24 between Nashville and Manchester? A friend of mine is driving from Jackson to Manchester and back and will probably need to fill up in Manchester before coming back.

Thanks.

Things are still not back to normal, but it looks like the shortage is lessening somewhat. I had no trouble filling up at a Shell station this morning, and just down the road I noticed a Mapco getting a delivery in.

I heard on the news this morning that twice as much gas was actually sold last week as compared to a normal week. Maybe once the "panic" subsides, things will get back to normal.

BTW, I paid $3.999 a gallon this morning. I was happy to get it at that price. Strange isn't it, a year or so ago I would have been shocked to have to pay $4 a gallon for gas.

It's strange/scary that we are that easily conditioned. Makes politicians' jobs that much easier.

FYI if you live in Smyrna/Murfreesboro
The Kangaroo at Almaville and I-24 has a tanker there right now - 8:45AM - if you need to fill up. Lines are already 2 cars deep, though. I was down to a 1/4 tank so it was great to be able to fill up!
