Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're intending to say, or reading too much into it, but Nashville has public transportation all over the city. There are plenty of bus routes to take you anywhere you need to go within Nashville at all different times of the day. Yeah, it may not go out to Hermitage (or maybe it does I don't know?) but last time I checked Hermitage is not Nashville, it's a suburb. I have a car but my house in East Nashville is so close to downtown I choose to utilize our public transportation system, it's $78 mo. & takes me anywhere I need to go within Nashville in a reasonable amount of time. People are always griping about our lack of mass transit but a lot of people don't utilize what we already have.
I have no idea about the bus system, but I doubt it would take me from my house in Hermitage to my office in Green Hills/Belle Meade in any way that would be remotely convenient.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this point, but Hermitage, although it has a separate mailing address, is technically Nashville. We're governed by Nashville and are in the Metro School district. It is a "suburban" area but it's still Nashville.

As for the train system, which by the way I was very excited and proud of Nashville for implementing, it's a Catch-22. They can't afford to increase the trips downtown until more people start using it, but people won't use it more unless there are more scheduled trips. I don't go to Titans games, but I would definitely use the Star if I did.

Okay, since it's Nashville I went to mta's website, here is the link about mass transit from Hermitage to Downtown Welcome to the Nashville MTA! as far as getting to your job in Green Hills the No. 7 line has busses that are running throughout the day to Green Hills. I took one last night to go shopping in the Hill Center, I could have driven, but their constant schedule made it convenient enough to take the bus.

I completely agree with you about the catch 22 of mta needing more passengers to have funds to offer more routes but unfortunately so many people are still hell bent on driving that there is no guarantee ridership would increase with more routes. I know people that could have a sky lift from their front porch to their job but would still drive :-)

Nashville has much to offer, History, Every kind of Music, Ballet, we have a renouned Symphony Orchestra.
Its not large like NYC, but it also does not have all their problems. People are friendly for the most part. For Sure its not all Bars, Remember this is the Bible Belt, so you will find all religions here.

yes, that's why I want to leave my subdivision - I take care of my property but hate the idea of HAVING to answer to an HOA...jsut a personal preference. They are usually run by an Oliver North wannabe...or worse, a self appointed neighbor who votes himself "mayor"..lol The people here are courteous and kind, but don't expect to be invited over for Sunday dinner- it's NOT south carolina.

But I thought you lived in Lascassas? That's not to say that you don't live in a subdivision in Lascassas that is run by a horrible HOA. You just always really promoted Lascassas so strongly.

THe HOA I am in isn't an overbearing clique of power-hungry ego-driven idiots. You have to have a good balance of rules that make sense and people who understand it is an HOA not a dictatorship.

I think if people would give MTA the chance they would love it. It's so much more relaxing to take the train in than having to navigate through I-40 traffic. You can put headphones on and escape into your own world, read the paper or even get work done.

On second thought, I'm pretty sure I've seen people doing all of those activities while driving on I-40. ;-)

The buses in Nashville are hardly on time and trying to get from side of town to the other with the transfers and stuff is a headache sometimes. I think the trains would be used ALOT more if it were cheaper and if it serviced more areas then the route to Mt. Juliet.

More people in Nashville live in the Antioch area or areas to the north like Madison, Rivergate, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, ect, ect.

Most HOA neighborhoods are a bit over the top. I work ALOT in the Brentwood area and those people are insane. The guy I used to work for would get $50 a day fines for having more then two cars parked in his driveway over in the Chenoweth subdivision.

I remember things on the news concerning some HOA neighborhoods in Williamson County. In my subdivision here in Murfreesboro, I'm glad we have an HOA and the rules are not rediculous and the HOA is not a bunch of power-hungry egomaniacs. I couldn't and wouldn't take that.

Ryan how often do you actually ride the MTA buses to get around town? You said they are "hardly" on time. The only reason I question this is because I actually do ride the MTA buses ALL THE TIME & my experience has been that it is like clockwork, rarely more than 5 minutes early or late. Last Friday the bus was running behind about 8 minutes & MTA sent a supervisor out in a van to come around & bring people to the shelter Downtown. It was vital to do that because otherwise people would be missing their transfers.
