Question Murfreesboro property taxes

I assume you guys got your tax bill in the mail today.

This is our first time owning a home here. Is this bill for the past 365 days, next 365 days, or some other time frame?

I'm just curious because we bought at the end of Feb. and our bill is about $300. I was expecting more; although I knew they would be cheap b/c our home is assessed at less than $100K.

I didn't get one yet,, but would imagine it is for next year. I am curious to see what mine will be. $300? That's unreal. My last one was $1175. Cheap compared to FL though. I thought it was supposed to go up next year.

I got mine and the way I read it, it is from 10/1/08 to 12/31/08. Mine is $341.00. So, if it is billed quarterly, that would make it $1364.00 or so for the year which seems about right. Sorry Kim.

I don't get quartely bills tho. Maybe because I paid in escrow when I bought this house? I never saw one in FL but once a year either. So what your saying is I can expect an increase? I knew is was going up. What I do want to know is how come you guys got one and I didn't?

Ours gets paid right along with the monthly mortgage payment. We have to forward the statement to the mortgage co. I would wait a few days and then call the tax collector's office 893-5210 if I didn't get one. I don't know about the increase.

Mine get paid with my mortgage as well, that's why I thought I only saw a yearly bill. I'm so confused now. There was something in the paper, that Rutherford County was increasing property taxes next year.

We just got ours yesterday also..We pay ours (here in Sumner County) through the mortgage company. I called them just to make sure they are going to pay it and they told me that they get a bill electronically from the county and it will be paid then. If you are not sure (like I was) I would call your mortgage just to make sure. I also wrote down the name of the person I talked to and the date and time we talked. Then filed the Tax Paper.

I know my mortgage holder pays it because I saw it on my end of the year statement from them. It showed "Rutherford County Taxes" $1175. I did get a bill today and it is again yearly. It went up $58 to $1233.
I guess I will be writing a check to escrow now. LOL!

Those tax bills still beat mine....1800 bucks for a 2 bedroom 1 bath condo! That is the reason I am moving to Tennessee!! If I pay that much there I'd have a real house with a yard of my own!!
