I really miss Herbert's BBQ - it used to be in Franklin - does anyone know what happened to it? I went back hoping for sweet corn bread and when I arrived, it was gone! That was a great place, and I also loved their deviled eggs

I want to add the Loveless Cafe. They have the best biscuits and good Southern Food and Barbeque.

They are currently building a Barn that will have concerts and for hire events.

I would love to find a privately owned hardware store!

Oh...and after my recent experience at Valvoline in Franklin....we're looking for a privately owned garage for things like oil changes, minor repairs. You know...they used to call them "backyard mechanics"

Love all of the ones listed previously. Nashville is so blessed to have so many locally owned places. Here are a few others
Zola's
Sunset Grill
Cabanna
Sperry's (excellent steakhouse...better than Ruth Crist, the Palm or Mortons)
Jimmy Kelleys (ditto)
Pizza Perfect
Nero's
Bistro 215
Noshville
Corner Pub
for Bar B q Jack's downtown and Hog Heaven
Cajun-Chappy's and Bro's
Wendell Smith's for another meat and three
Bobbie's Dairy Dip

Sorry...listed lots but these are all standards for me

the hardware store, I think it is an ACE, located at Blair and 21st is locally owned. Most Ace hardware stores are locally owned franchises. There is a really good auto repair located on one of the back streets off Mallory in Cool Springs that is fabulous...I can't think of their name of course.

Most of your boutiques in Bandywood in Green Hills are locally owned and are pretty upscale. Import Flowers on Murphy for flowers wholesale or retail. FUBU on Charlotte is a gift boutique. Alpha bakery in Bellevue. Posh in Hillsboro Village and now in the Hills Center. The Cat/Dog shop in Berry Hill and and most of their proceeds go to rescuing animals. Nash Trash Tours are a great local treasure also. The Bluebird for music.

I miss Herbert's, too. When hubby and I both worked in Franklin, we used to meet there often to have lunch together. We'd get BBQ and a loaf of that wonderful sweet cornbread to take home, too!

Several years ago, the city widened the road Herbert's was on and took their land. I think Herbert died around that time, too, so the family decided to just close up instead of finding a new location. End of an era, that place.

In Rutherford County, I like Miller's Grocery, Through the Grapevine, B. McNeel's, The Front Porch Cafe, Maple Street Grill, Raz'z and The Parthenon.

Mmmmmmm. Hubby's gonna have to take me out to dinner soon!

Did anyone mention the City Cafe in d'town Murfreesboro? Also, there used to be a great coffehouse called the "Red Rose" which was really close to d'town Murfreesboro, but it's long gone...
