Default Dreamland Estates info

Hi, I am moving to Nashville from Georgia, and I have been cyber-shopping for houses and neighborhoods. I am a musician and come from a liberal college town that is similar to East Nashville, and had just assumed that I would buy in-town. However, my price range in the mid-100's is making it hard to find anything I like really well in that area. Oh to find a fixer upper for 150 in Sylvan Park...

But the reason for this post is that I have just seen a couple of houses in a neighborhood called "Dreamland Estates" in Antioch, I think it is just down from Nippers Corner. Does anyone know anything about this area? The couple of houses on the market look very nice, but given the prices, and the street view satellite maps I have seen, I am not so sure this is a good place. Some of the houses look shabby.

My big concern is the political climate. I recently had to move to a part of town here outside of Atlanta that is very conservative, and my Obama signs keep getting stolen from my yard (the only Obama sign in a neighborhood full of McCain signs)! When I make the change to Nashville, I need to be in an area where there are like-minded people. EVERYONE doesn't have to be like me (liberal, open-minded, artistic), in fact I have made plenty of conservative GOP friends here, but I'd at least like to have a mix, if not left-leaning.

I hope this post doesn't make ME sound intolerant, I certainly am not, but after the last year or two being the only Democrat in the neighborhood, and seeing my son teased about it and such, I really need to be able to relax at home!

But the neighborhood must also be safe. If anyone has any other ideas for neighborhoods that are less expensive, but that are safe (must be in Davidson County), I would love to hear that too.

Thanks!

It sounds like you've said you'd like to be in East Nashville. Are you concerned about prices? You can find homes in that area within your price range. I don't know if they meet your criteria. Several neighborhoods you can check out that all have homes currently on the market in the mid 100s are: Lockeland Springs, Inglewood, Edgefield, Rosebank, and Eastwood Neighbors. You might like some of them. Hope that helps...

I agree with denawilliams, you would be happiest in east Nashville and you should be able to find a house in that price range with no problem. Be sure to get a good realtor like one from Village Realtors who specialize in that area. Moderator cut: realtor info deleted, please offer to send via DM
Good Luck

Thanks for the info! So far, I am not seeing anything that works in East Nashville for less than the low 200s. I have to have a 3/2, which is difficult in an older neighborhood, and I don't want to be within a block or two of Gallatin. All I am seeing in my price range are tiny little houses that are right off the main drag. And the houses that suit my needs in Lockeland and Sylvan Park are in the 300s!

So I saw these houses in Dreamland, and wondered if this neighborhood was worth looking into. The houses are the right size, it is just as convenient to where I need to be, I just need to be sure the neighborhood is stable and somewhere we would be proud to call home!

If anyone is familiar with Dreamland or the Nippers Corner area in general, I'd sure like to know.

Thanks so much!

In that price range close to Nipper's Corner, you might try: Whispering Hills, Villages of Brentwood, and Huntington Park.
