Default Moving to Nashville from CT, good idea??

Hello all, I am looking to move to Nashville from Connecticut within the next year and was wondering if I could get some locals opinions on how smooth the transition would be, and if what i've heard is correct. I am graduating with a bachelors degree in Music and I have heard great things about Nashville's music scene. My style is acoustic/adult contemporary and I would be looking to further my career as a recording artist and live performer. However, before I get that underway I understand I would need some sort of day job, so what i'm wondering is how easy would it be for a CT boy to get a job? How is the pay? Also, what is it like to live in Nashville? How are the people compared to those in CT? How is the weather? Any tips before I plan a trip down there or start looking for housing? Lots of questions I know, any info would be appreciated!

Jeff

I can't help you out with the jobs, but we moved here from CT last year. All I can say is that you are going to find the people down here so much more friendlier and courteous. We had no family or friends here, but felt welcome by everyone we met. You will find the summers longer and the winters shorter. It got cool here this past winter but it doesn't last as long as in CT.

Thank you, you've been most helpful. I am looking forward to meeting the people down there, and to see if the difference is as big as people say.

...And check out the "Nashville Scene" for jobs (it's a local free newspaper- they also have a website)- good luck to you and I think you'll find this a wonderful town for musicians.

I moved to Nashville from the Suburbs of Chicago to attend Belmont University and I haven't left TN since. After the initial culture shock I really found my niche. I also got my BA in music, as did my wife. You have to come down here with realistic expectations about the music industry. There are plenty of venues for live music and not just country.

Also wanted to say that if you decide to come to TN, give yourself time to get used to a new area/state to live in. We are here just over a year and now call TN "home" which we truely mean.
